How BIG will that thing get RB, and are you concerned about salmonella (SP?)

Five to six feet MAX. As long as you wash your hands before and after you won't get bitten or get salmonella.

I'm feeding it pre killed fuzzy mice, which are approx ten days old when they kill em.

When he gets stronger, I'll feed him live mice, but that wont be for a few months at the very least.

We had some at the University we could watch as they fed on live mice. They kept them in dry aquariums with some vegatation and water, etc. Also interesting to watch were the pirhana (sp?) when they fed them "feeder fish."

That's cruel.

And how in the F--- can a SNAKE have a good temperament? It's a reptile, with a pre-historic brain. These things are about as stupid as they come. Pure killing instinct. You better make sure that cage is locked up good every night.

Ok, you drive a FORD, and you too own a lab, who doesnt' roam the wild in a pack, was seperated at birth from its mother, and eats dry food.

Hmmm, I don't want to ruin the understanding we have.....

And if it has a "prehistoric brain" why is it "cruel"?

I'm starting with fish, then going to a Red Tailed Boa, and then a Savahanna monitor once I get out on my own after college. We'll see what else happens after that.

What do Fords and Labs have to do with putting a cute little live mouse in a cage with a snake and watching it die for entertainment reasons? That's what I meant by cruel.

Dogs were domesticated by the cavemen. Even hawks and falcons have been domesticated. Snakes have no redeeming value. I know, I've dated a few serpent women. You always get bitten or strangled in the end. Read your Bible.

If you wash them after feeding them and before handling them, you may reduce the chances of being considered "food" (and therefore bitten), but it does not prevent being attaked if the snake feels threatened.

Nice pet, RB. I used to have a boa myself.

Thats a hell of a commitment......you have to be the 'snake dude' till you're almost 50 years old.

They do have redeeming value... read your zoology books. :D
