View Full Version : What would You do? Oil and wheels Well it finally happened, I got a nail in my tire and the two local tire guys (Big O and Goodyear!) would not even touch it. Sooo I take it to the dealer where I bought it and they said "no problem but it will cost you twenety five bucks". Thanks to advice being read right here about going over items with the service writer it was noted the wheels were "perfect". I decided to get the oil changed and tires roteated also. Now the fun starts, I get my bill and they billed me for seven quarts of oil so I brought it up that they should have only put a little over six in but they said it took all seven to bring it to the full line. Then I check my wheel and sure enough they scratched the wheel! Not bad but as noted they were perfect before. They made me an offer of a set of OEM chromed wheels for $650.00. Then I check my oil when I get home and let it cool for a bit and sure enough the oil line is way above the full mark. What would you do with both of these situations? Make them get a new wheel, take the chromed ones, make them do the oil over, take some out? To finnish the story they left too much air in the repaired tire and after driving for a bit the warning light went off. I stopped and let air out but it never went down until the low pressure light in the front went off (they never reset the sensors), what a day! What would YOU do? thebigjimsho 06-20-05, 09:14 PM If I were you, I'd sell your OEM wheels to me for cheap.:hide: 2004ctsv 06-20-05, 09:52 PM 1. If you like the chome wheels, take the offer but be sure to keep the originals
2. Don't sweat over a little more than one pint - you'll burn it soon enough
3. If you obsess over such things, draw oil out through dip stick well with small diameter plastic tubing - don't get a mouthful
Tony I'd take it back, tell the manager how they didn't do a single thing right, demand a new wheel, have them drain some oil out and tell them you want a refund for wasting your time. If they refuse, tell them you'll be notifying your lawyer and the Bureau of Automotive Repair (if you're in California). Thanks Barak! I am from California as a matter of fact. Didn't I meet you at the CTS-V So-Cal get together in Tustin? Aren't you from the Ontario area? PneuBird 06-21-05, 04:32 AM Some Dealers Just SUCK!!!!! :banghead2 :brutal: SoFlaCTS-V 06-21-05, 12:16 PM Same exact experience here regarding the wheel.
Dealer scratched my rim, service manager without hesitation said to order me a new wheel. I'm still waiting for the wheel because they forgot to order it, tried to give me a regular CTS wheel, etc. They also may want the wheel back so they can try and get some "defect" money from Cadillac. I told them no way! I want the wheel as a spare! :yup:
Stand your ground.

Yeah, that's me. Are you going to the Rancho Cucamonga meet on July 2nd? Yeah, that's me. Are you going to the Rancho Cucamonga meet on July 2nd?
Yes, I have all the info. posted on #3860. Will bring it up again when it gets a little closer. Kevy Kev 06-22-05, 11:01 AM What would YOU do?
Never go back to that Dealer again. Have them order you a new wheel. Let them know how foolish they are about the oil situation. Any shade tree mechanic know how to change/fill oil! Kadonny 06-22-05, 11:05 AM Idiots.
The oil thing is no big deal, as said before it will burn off.
I would take the chrome wheel deal. I think chromies on the V look awesome. sti convert 06-22-05, 12:15 PM HRM recently did a study on overfilling the oil by 1qt. NOT good. HP went down and oil temp went up significantly. I wouldn’t worry about it this time, just wouldn’t do it as SOP. AmesCTS-V 06-22-05, 12:28 PM HRM recently did a study on overfilling the oil by 1qt. That's odd. With the LS1 guys run a qt over all the time and it works well. I would think the LS6 would be the same. |
