Left work early today so traffic was pretty light (for Houston anyway). Heading down 288 just outside the 610 loop I spotted a new style black viper roadster up ahead quickly changing lanes.:sneaky: After a bit, the road cleared, I caught up with him and pulled along side. Viper Guy looks over and just smiles.:)
That was it though, he just kept the pace at 75and didn't seem interested. So I edged past him ever so slowly giving him time to see the badges and hear the B&B, hoping he would engage. Maybe he thought I was in just a regular CTS at first.
Any way, I was about four car lengths ahead and I guess I blinked because all of a sudden here he comes (fast). I was doing about 80 and dropped to 4th, but I was too slow on the down shift because he had a quick three car lengths on me. But three was all the V was giving, we stayed even from there up till about redline in 4th. I was too busy to even glance at the spedo, but I guess it was around 145ish :shhh: .
Hit a little traffic and slowed back to 70 until through it. Once in the clear he punched it again, but this time I was better prepared and had much better results when I grabbed 3rd instead of 4th. He was already about three car lengths in front when we punched it but this time he only gained about another length all the way up to the end of 4th gear again. I'm thinking that he might have downshifted to 4th while I dropped down to 3rd.
After that blast we slowed to a reasonable speed and before turning off at his exit he gave an emphatic thumbs up. The V did me proud and continues to amaze me every time I drive it. I can't wait to install the headers and TPIS flywheel that are sitting in the garage:lildevil: .
