: changing engines in my 79 deville

i was wondering if it was possible to take the 455 from my 74 buick electra and drop it in my deville... ive asked around and nobody is really sure. if it is what would it take to do this and how much money???

I'm sure it's possible with the right amount of effort... but why the heck would you even want to in the first place?

Honestly, it should, though '74 I think is after the emissions and power drop. With your 79 Deville... What motor's in there? Because I think a torquey 383 or 350 sbc would work better overall, not as much torque, but better mileage, and with $2+ for gas still, might be worth it.

Yup, you could do it. Probably work real well. Trans bellhousing is the same. If you have to pay someone to do all the work it would not be cheap though. If you have a complete donor car with all engine accessories then the job would be much easier.

'77-'79 got the 425

if you don't want to stick with the 425, then the next would be to swap a 472 or 500 in... if not, then the 455 would be the other best thing, keep it a big block. the 455 should bolt up to the trans too...
