I took my V in for new tires (set #2 of GS-D3s), axle half-shaft leaking, tighten rear cradle bolts, and the SDM recall. I also complained about the whine comming from the rear end (this is my car's 1st replacement diff, which started whining after 2000 miles).

Some of the cradle bolts were a little lose. We'll see if that makes any difference now. What about the axle leak? Turns out there is a crack in the differential housing. That's where the leak is comming from. I don't know how that could have happened, since I noticed the leak w/only 450 miles on this rear end. That was before I drove it hard. (Sure wheel hop could crack something, but the leak started before that).

Anyway, I get my car back tomorrow, but the rear end will have to wait because its on back order. So I just have to drive carefully until then. That's ok since I've got to break in the new tires anyway. And I'm trying to avoid hard shifts since its bad for the car.

I'll post when I get another diff (#2). Hopefully I can get that extended warranty now.

I hope that GM ok's dealers to begin using the upgraded '06 parts on earlier V's with blown rears.

If my V was like some of the others on this forum it would have died months ago. The only thing I hate is the excessive clunking / thrashing in the drivetrain.
