man... I didn't get very far on these tires. I was looking through my owner's guides and stuff... and came upon the "warranty" disclaimer from Goodyear. Is 10,000 miles the normal life span of these tires or is this "premature" wear and will it be covered under warranty?

Just a question... I don't want another set of runflats.. I'm gonna get me some BFGoodrich KDW2s!!!! w00t w00t!!

I think it would be a tough sell to say the tires wore out and it was driver related, but you never know.

My rear tires that I just bought less than 6k miles ago are also down to the wear bar and that is with not so much as a chirp from them. I am just happy that one of my tires finally wore evenly. This is BS. Less than 6k on a set of rears> I did not notice until I met up with Jim to buy his tires and I felt them then never expecting them to be worn and they were. I don't wanna switch to an auto, but the SRT-8 is looking better and better every day.

It is BS that the tires don't last, but most of the time it's the driver if only the rear's wear and alignment if only the fronts wear. I have a set of tires on my GTO that I fully exspect to only last 4k or so.

Most F1's have an AA traction rating. AA indicates a soft rubber compound (for traction). Soft rubber equals a high wear rate...and you know the rest of the story. 10,000 miles is really a good distance on soft tires. Put some 60,000 mile tires on your car, with really HARD rubber tread and see how much traction you get...LOL....like NONE. I have some F1 GS (AA traction rating) tires on my ETC and I don't even get 10,000 miles on the front tires. I had a '63 Corvette FI w/4.56 positrac rearend and Atas Bucron (Humble Oil-now Exxon) rear tires (really soft and really great traction) and they wore out in 6 to 7 thousand miles. Firestone also marketed their soft tires under the name of Firestone Butylair.

I just broke 10 large on my car today. I also went and changed my rear two tires. The guys did it in less then an hour with no rim scratches.

Yeah, that makes sense. I've never heard "large" used like that for mileage, only money. I thought he threw down for some different rims or something.

Todd you caught me over here already:) No V.... yet. I'm talking to the dealer again tonight, we are close to a deal:rolleyes: I'll call you up with my list if I end up with one; looks like I'll be able to put my GTO mod knowledge to good use.

Just in case anyone is struggling with the language or vernacular, the terms "K" or "large" only reference money. Rod Brooks (a local sports talk host in the Bay Area) used to do a commercial for an insurance company and he boasted they had more than "400 grand satisfied customers". Not correct. If you want to see a terrific movie where the term "large" is used properly, rent the movie "The Pope of Greenwich Village" with Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts.
On the tire issue, my original F1 run flats lasted 11000 miles. I say lasted, but I ran them without much tread for a while--I figured they wouldn't go flat at least. I replaced them with Eagle GSD3's which have decent tread left at 9000 miles. My previous two cars were Jaguar XJR's and those Pirelli's were soft as well--as I recall I barely got 12000 miles on them.
This is one of the many prices we pay for high performance

When I hear large, I do think of money. I throw k around as generic for 1,000 in everything, probably because I'm a computer engineer; but then again in computers a k is a little more than 1,000.

Like I said, not a chirp from the rear tires. Its my wifes car and she doesn't go above 4k rpms or above 70mph. Its the way GM set the suspension up.

I am changing the ORIGINAL fronts now with 17k and still tread on the wear bars. If the tire wore evenly I wouldn't even be changing them yet. I said the story about trading my wifes 03 Vette in with 18k and still more than half tread life on the originals.(same exact tire) Its not the tires, its the car that is making ours wear. (unless you drive like an animal alot)
