I'm thinking of making a set of 4.9 headers since nobody makes them, does anyone have some spare manifolds they'd be willing to send for R&D?

Price per pair would be around $500 including crossover pipe.

Although I thought I remember hearing the exhaust manifolds, let alone most the whole exhaust system on the 4.9 is not all that restrictive?

how hard would it be to adapt a set of shorty headers for a 4800/5300 chevy pickup engine ? i figure adapt those and a new y pipe and badda bing your done ...

From personal experience my OPINION based on the butt-o-meter is the exhaust on the 4.9 leaves something to be desired when it comes to top end breathing (although the top end on this is middle of the road anyway).
I would be totally interested in the setup, and if you have trouble finding parts to prototype with i am willing to help out there too.

also id like to take a moment to make a important note ,anyone ever think about how much of a PITA it would be to install a header on bank 2 ? I mean its recomended that when your pulling the heads on the engine that you leave the manifold on it , if that dont say how hard it would be to pull the bastard off i dont know what would ...

I've been thinking about that myself some lately, but I don't think it should be too much of a problem - Where there's a will, there's a way.

Sorry I haven't replied much lately, I've been out doing alot of work. But I'm still on the project and I should have a prototype version up and running sometime, just not sometime soon most likely.

I'll keep the thread updated with progress, so anyone who wants one who hasn't already said something should speak up.
