Sharing bodies with Buick, Chevy and Pontiac is ok, if the engines, chassis tuning and trim levels are tweaked.

... as opposed to their current brand strategy:

Chevy: outstanding sports car, good fullsize trucks, boring smaller trucks and fwd cars.

Buick: boring fwd cars and boring warmed-over minivans & trucks

Pontiac: boring, ugly fwd cars & minivans, and 1 high-performance ugly car.

GMC: good fullsize trucks, and boring smaller trucks

Saturn: boring, boring, boring

Cadillac: exciting rwd & awd cars & crossover, good fullsize trucks, OK fwd sedan.

So, 1 star division and a couple of lonely bright spots. And I like GM.

I'd make the Economy FWD Buick a premium small 4-door car for the empty nesters. A step above the Chevy Aveo, with 'luxury' options available. Maybe even tailor the option packages to the RV car towing oldsters.

The compact FWD, would see AWD available on the Pontiac and it would be GM's best looking and highest performing compact car. Look-out Evo and STi, GM is putting Rallye back into it's Pontiac Le Mans RSi.

Mid-size FWD, Chevy would be the bold design, while the Buick would be the conservativly styled design. Buick would have the big engine as standard, and a Hybrid as an option. Chevy would have an optional big engine manual transimission available as a stand alone option on it's new and improved AWD Malibu.

If GM needs a performance Buick, then is the platform.

The Standard RWD platform would be the basis for the next Impala 4-door and Grand Prix. The 2-door Grand Prix could be called a GTO.

It would also be the platform to spin off a Camaro and Firebird.

Full-size RWD would be the Taxi, police and limo chassis. No more FWD Cadillacs, lowering the value of all Cadillacs. Buick becomes the livery car, while Chevy Caprice becomes the special duty car.

The civilian versions would be desirable too, for those that want a large affordable near luxury sedan.
