: Wheels, Exhaust, some questions

I just traded in my black '01 Vette convertible for a new '05 CTS-V Black/Black this past weekend--with the employee discount, I couldn't resist. What a fun car to drive and after owning 2 Vette's in a row, it was time for a change. But I have some questions for those of you who have been doing mods for a while, as I have never modified any past cars except for new stereos and window tint!

Wheels:

I want to get a chrome set of the stock CTS-V 7 spoke wheel. Anyone know a place in the Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe/Mesa area that keeps a chrome set in stock that is reputable? Any on-line companies do this? I don't want to take my car out of commission while I wait for chromes.

Exhaust:

I'm interested in getting more rumble under my seat (that isn't gas related) with a throatier and more menacing sound. I've heard excellent reviews (here and elsewhere) of the B&B exhaust, and they are a local company as well. My questions are:

1) I'm having a hard time figuring out what the car would sound like if I were to go with the B&B resonator vs. the X-pipe. I want it to sound great and definitely be louder than stock pipes, but I also don't want it to be unbearably noisy either - for me, my wife or my neighbors...any suggestions? B&B has a video of a black V taking off - that is the kind of sound I would like - can anyone with trained ears tell if that is equipped with a resonator or X-pipe?

2) Does B&B do installations as well as sell the products? I don't have the equipment nor the patience to do it myself... Or any suggestions for installers in the Phx/Scottsdale/Tempe/Mesa area?

Some other general comments too after going through the forums until I was bleary-eyed the last 2 days... I had steering wheel-shudder driving when I test drove the car (with 4 miles on it!) at 55-70mph or so. I pointed it out to the salesperson and he wrote it in the new car "IOU", so I just need to figure out a time to get it fixed.

BTW - Great active forums! I am hoping a few mods will cure my newly discovered obsession with mods. ...maybe some new mats too...I saw someone with a cool set with the V emblem on the edge... and then...:madtalkin

Check with Pro Dyno in Tempe. Right now they have 10% discounts for forum members; check out their B&B exhaust setups. Check out prodyno.com, I'm probably going to get the x-pipe from them this month while the discount is still valid.

Also, for wheels, talk to Wheel Specialists... they do the wheels for all the high end cars in town.

Johnny U,
Welcome to the club! I've learned so much about my car from the guys on here. We have everybody from professionals who work with the V to Doctors and lawyers who don't know a thing about cars. I'm in the later group, but I rely on the info from other members who know what they're talking about.

Here's a great place to hear/see what you want. A senior member sent me there once. http://www.cadillacfaq.com/video/index.html

If you go there and look at the videos, you will see a section that has B&B videos, as well as the sound of Corsa. (scroll down) I chose Corsa for mine since some other members I've spoken with say it goes to quiet mode in the 45mph to 80mph when you're cruising. B&B sounds a little meaner than the Corsa, but it always sounds mean according to some people. Depends on what you want I guess. There are times when I just want the Cadillac and can hear my music and use the phone without having to strain.

Well, enjoy your car. Hope this helps.

Michael

Johhny U I had the same issues getting a new exhaust for my V. I did not want it too loud but I did want it to rumble. After a lot of listening and reserach I ended up with the B&B and resonator setup. I LOVE IT!! It has the perfect balance of sound and rumble without the extreme annoyances. Also, check out Wheels Boutique for custom applications, ask for Charles.

Thanks to Dgtal, I got a live demo of the B&B with X-pipe today. While it is a sweet sounding ride, I think it would be too much for my wife, so I've decided to go with the resonator. Todd@ProDyno, I'll call you guys tomorrow to order & install the B&B w/resonator. Right on.
