Just checking in to see if any of the New England boys might be planning on going to New England Dragway this Friday... 6/17/05
I have my B&B headers on now with a Westers tune, I hope to get the BMR stuff on some night this week and will try to get her into the Dyno to see what HP gains she has.
Anyway, if the weather is decent I am planning on making a couple passes, maybe see some of you there...

I'd love to meet up but there's no way I'm running again.

James,

Come on up if you want, you can run the video camera...
I think it should run pretty good if the Diff holds together..

Sure, I'll run video for ya. It's just the feeling of hundreds of people looking at you as the ATV tows you back off the track is one that I dread. Not that it's ever happened to me before.....

BTW, how are you liking the headers? I'm assuming you're buttoned up and mobile. How much did the sound affect the cat-back? Is it bordering on too loud? You plan on replacing the resonator with the X-pipe?

I here you on not wanting to get towed off the track, a little bit embarrassing to say the least..:hide: :banghead:

So far I am liking the headers and high flow cats pretty well. It is for sure not too loud but it did make it a tone or two louder than just the Resonator cat back. I still would like to get the X-pipe center section and see how that sounds. I can live with it the way it is now if I have to, as you can definitely tell it is not stock. But a little more tone would be very welcome in my opinion.
I have to go do a couple errands in a few minutes and then mow the lawn. But after that I think I will get the car jacked up and start putting on the BMR parts to hopefully help keep the diff together. The car is a blast on the street and that may very well have to be where I start racing again. I stopped doing that about ten years ago and started only "for the most part" racing at the track to keep out of trouble. I love to line up against someone else and the track is just to damn sticky for these weak diffs.
We were on our way back from Massachusetts on Saturday night when a friend of mine called me up who drives an 03 Cobra with a few mods. A bunch of people were getting together for some street racing so when I got home I dropped off the wife and son and headed down. It wasn't a huge turnout and besides my friends Cobra the only other competition was a couple older "Eclipes, Talons" both guys claim to be in the 11's with spray and one STI. A couple regular Mustangs and then your run of the mill 14-to high 15 second rice cars.. It started to sprinkle and then started to get heavier so I headed home. I can't complain much on the street, ride the clutch out between 2500 to 3000 and it comes out of the whole decent without any hop most of the time. It is just at the damn track where you go to be legal and bring home a timeslip where the big problem lies. I know these are not drag cars but that is how I tell which mods work and which mods don't.
Anyway, hope to see you there.. And if you can't make it wish me luck and give me your towing companies name..:histeric: lol Just kidding, I will make sure one of my friends with a trailer will be available to come and get me just in case..

Jim, I know the feeling. I got pushed off LVD while the guy in the booth made jokes about it. I was gonna go up there and beat him with my half shaft. He even made the obvious "better push that onstar button" joke. Litteral meaning to the adding insult to injury. Talk to ya tonite.

I will try to be there. What time do you usually get to the track? I haven't been in years but if memory serves I think gates opened at 6:00 and as I remember you could get in a couple quick runs right a 6:00 but after that it was usually an hour or more between runs.

You guys have me nervous about my diff. I have no desire to break it but I have troubles holding back in competative situations...:banghead: I guess we will see what happens.

I love this car but hate the fact that I have to hold back for fear of breaking it. We really need an aftermarket company to step up...

Dan, on the street, if you have a BMR kit or Specter bushings, spin away. But the track is just too sticky. It needs a different approach.

Oh, and I would LOVE to see Quaife get involved. But they'd need a donor diff and at least 13 definites.

Dan,

Gates open at 5pm and racing starts at 6pm and ends at 10pm. I like to get there by 5.. Hope to see you guys there if the weather is good..

"But the track is just too sticky. It needs a different approach."

Things must have changed at NE Dragway. I have always had a harder time hooking up at the track compared to the street or even the road race course.

Update guys.....

The weather isn't looking to good for Friday night, and that doesn't have me to motivated to get my car back together.. haha
I actually just started working on it tonight after supper, didn't get much done but did start..
I started by just trying to put the BMR pinion brace in but there wasn't crap for room to work. No lift doesn't help either.. haha
I just have the car up about 2' on jack stands. So after playing around for a while I just ended up dropping my exhaust off and then it was a piece of cake to do the BMR pinion brace install. Tomorrow night if I don't end up working to late I think I will work on the BMR trailing arms, toe rods, and the wheelhop bar. I ordered a B&B X-pipe center section the other day so I hope that comes in soon and I will put my exhaust back on then. So it looks like I will shoot for next Friday the 25th now instead..

Depending on the weather I still plan to go. This will give me a chance to get in some practice so I can figure out how to launch the car for when we go head to head. :D I mean, the pressure is on to show that the red cars are faster...

I have a buddy with an LS1 camaro that is heading up as well. He is running mid 13's so that should be a good race.

Hopefully I will have some videos I can post later on.

Dan,
If you end up going this Friday, good luck and I hope you get some nice times. Oh yeah, kick your buddies ass too.. And the videos are a big plus if you can get them.
It would be a blast to line up against each other. I have to warn you though, I will have to make my fellow Platinum owners proud.. :burn:

Hey guys, Im new here. Live over in Keene.
Currently looking to lease a V.
Just lurking now.
New England people get together much?

HDMLNIUM

The V group doesn't seem to yet...:hmm: But we are working on it...
If you end up getting a V that is just one more in the New England area, more the reason for a get together..:welcome:

Should I also mention I have a lift?
does that help me with the "in" crowd? :D

Sure that helps, but Keene is a pretty good hike for me. I use to go to Milford NH a lot back in the early to mid 90's and if my memory is right Keene was a little past that.. But hey, I am not afraid of a little road trip now and then..
I hope to see you around..

Keene is about 45 Mins west of Milford.
My lift is in Westmoreland NH (actually a buddys lift, but I always use it.)
Also about 20 mins from Curtis' BBQ via back roads.

Jim was right... I am a lazy bastard...:histeric: My car still looks the same as it does in the above pics, I haven't touched it from the other night. It figures as the weather is looking pretty good now, I called the track and they are planning on running so I wish you the best tonight. Looking forward to the slips and videos and I will shoot for next friday to run. I just got home from work and my Lingenfelter CAI showed up so I have even more work to do now...

I got the call earlier that my LPE CAI came in as well.

Dan, even if I don't get done until late with work, I'm going to try to make it. But I did get sucked into a late job. Hopefully I'll see you there.

Well that was fun. Everybody was leaving before I got there. The heavens let loose. But I did catch up with Dan, who was on his way home. It's hard to miss a Redline V whose exhaust reflects light quite nicely.

I never made it to the track. I saw Dan heading back south, so I turned off the Stabilitrak, downshifted into 2nd and spun that thing back the other way all Starsky and Hutch-like.:drinker

And I don't need to hear the headers anymore, I heard the X-pipe and it was pretty sweet. I was surprised how quiet that was, so headers shouldn't be a problem. Although I am a little worried about willsctsv since he blew out another cat. I may just go with the TPIS headers.

Well I wasn't real pleased with my results. Mostly driver, wheel hop and shifter errors. I guess I still have more work to do. I only got in one good run, 3 others I either smoked the clutch trying to be too agressive off the line or missed the shift into 3rd gear, or both :banghead: . At least I know my rev limiter is working.

Anyway, here is my best run, and the only one worth talking about.

R/T ... .603
60' ... 2.265
330 ... 6.091
1/8 ... 9.136
MPH ... 80.51
1000 ... 11.685
1/4 ... 13.847
MPH ... 105.04

My best short time of the night was a 2.180 but in that run I missed third gear.

On my first run I was up against a C6. He ran a 13.3 at 105 but his best run of the night was a 13.1 at 106. All stock and an automatic. There was also a new mustang with slicks running 13.1's.

Looks like I have some modding to do. I really want this car to be in the 12's. The V was hopping on every shift including into 4th gear. Which comes right at the end of the 1/4 mile.

I got my Lingenfelter intake in yesterday, but its not on the car yet. I am thinking headers next and then some fixes for the wheel hop. Probably the specter bushings.

I would have liked to get in a couple runs after I let the car cool down but the skies opened up after only being there for an hour. Maybe next week...

I will try to get the video posted later today.

Dan,

Nothing wrong with that run... and you 60' times are pretty good.
I am planning on next Friday myself so I hope to see you there. It would be cool to get a video of us running each other. I know most of the guys that work there and if we ask them to line us up so we can race each other they will.. It will be a cool video.. The only question is.... Which color is quicker.....:2thumbs:
