Other then the engine the DeVilles and Fleetwoods were the same from 1977 to 1992. The Eldorados were the same from 1979 to 1985. The Sevilles were the same from 1980 to 1985. This is just a note for people who know the newer styled Cadillacs more then the older ones. MMNineInchNails 10-30-03, 09:15 PM Those engines were way smaller. My '70 has a 7.7 liter. Wasn't the 5.7 a 350 or around that anyways? We're talking about 472s, 425, 500s. The body style doesn't really matter, it's what's underneath the skin that mostly counts. brougham 10-30-03, 10:14 PM I never said they were the same engines as the old ones. But they're more related to them then the 4.1. What's underneath the skin does count and it's all still related to the body style. The engine is only one of those things underneath the skin anyway. And as HotRodSaint pointed out in another post engine issues should be addressed under the tech forums anyway. MMNineInchNails 10-31-03, 12:59 AM Just because they look the same doesn't mean they're the same car. Cars are classified by a few different things. the make, model, YEAR, and how many doors. The break off point being 1981 would classify all the cars with year 1981 and older to be in that section. That's why you can break them off. Who cares if they look the same. brougham 10-31-03, 02:13 AM Yes cars are classified by a few different things but the mian way cars are classified is by the body style. 1977-1996 were the same body style with some upgrades for 1993. For Eldorados the body style changed in 1979. For the front wheel drives 1985 to 1988 were the same body, then stretched for 1989 to 1993 with a minor change for 1991. The make, yes that has something to do with it. The model depends. The YEAR is just a year the car was made, unless it's a year of a body change. How many doors almost never has any effect on things because sedans are just extended coupes with 2 extra doors. When you're talking about the same make and model of car this is how they have ALWAYS been classified. Just because they look the same doesn't mean they're the same car. I'm not basing any of this on looks, I'm basing it on the body. But if you want to put it that way yes it does. Simplest way to put it- In 1981 you could buy a DeVille or Fleetwood with the V864, a 4.1L V6 or a Diesel. It doesn't matter what engine the person ordered it with because it's still in the same car. | |
