Wife's '93 FWB's blower will not shut off. The only way I can get it to stop is to pull the fuse or unplug the harness from the motor. This is , of coursse with the switch off and key removed. Anybody have any ideas??? Thanks!!

Yes, most likely it is the Blower Power module (shorted out)..
Mine is mounted in the firewall (center, near the blower). That is 93 ELDO.

I found the relay and unplugged it (under the dash pass. side) and it still ran. I will try to locate the module. Is this the same as the resistor that determines speed of blower?? Thanks for the help!!!!

Peteski, you're right on the money. I found the gizmo, which is under the dash on this car. I have a 91 Olds wagon with the same HVAC system. I plugged the module from the Caddy into the Olds and the blower comes on and will not stop. Will call local dealer and see what a newbie will cost. Might have to go to the bone yard. Many thanks for the great diagnosis!!!

You're welcome!

It is not a bunch of resistors. It is all electronic (transistorized). But it functions the same as the old resistors did. The power transistor probably shorted out. It happens...

The new one has an external transistor on it. The transistor looks like the one on a Chrysler electronic ignition box. Maybe it will stay cooler and last a while. I read on another website that a blower motor that is pulling too many amps could burn it out. I jumped the fuse terminals with an amp gauge and the motor pulled about 15 amps. Said should be no more than 20, so I guess it is OK. Working for now anyhow!!

For the 89-93 Seville and Eldorado the module is located about center of the firewall on the air plenum. Access is from under the hood. I am not sure about Deville.

I have written about how to change this module what each wire by color does and where it goes.

The cars I wrote about were 89-93 Eldorado and Seville only. From 1994 on... there is no separate blower control module, it is located in the blower motor housing. You will need to replace the blower motor assembly.
