LEXUS HEADED TO JAPAN
Toyota said on Friday that, after nearly fourteen years of success in the U.S., that it would share its Lexus brand with Japanese customers as it revamps its luxury-car brands in its home country. Toyota plans on establishing 150 Lexus dealers in Japan by mid-2005, Reuters reports, and will merge its Vista and Netz vehicle lines to better focus its sales, leaving it with four brands in Japan. Lexus will handle luxury vehicles, the news service says, while Netz will go after young women, Toyopet on selling mid-size cars and Corolla, compacts.
