View Full Version : 2006 Deville looks like Crap!! detroit99sts 06-08-05, 10:04 AM They've ruined it, in my opinion.WHY?????
Why is Cadillac making their cars all sharp-edged, they all look crappy now. All, including the CTS, STS, DTS, SRX. However, the newcomer XLR and the Escalade line-up look great. I wish they would have stuck to the rounder Cadillac styles.

I mean, the performance has been totally upgraded, but the outside designs do not look luxurious. My personal favorite years are 1994-2004.

A $50,000 V8 Monte Carlo. caddydaddy 06-08-05, 01:09 PM I've seen the new DTS in person. No picture does it justice, the car is awesome looking! The new DTS and the Deville are great looking but I agree the new styles of STS are garbage. I have the 1995 STS and I get at least an offer a week from strangers in traffic, carwashes, grocery store parking lots, etc... wanting to buy it from me. I don't even like the new Escalades because the body style makes them look plastic. But the new performance engines are something to be admired. detroit99sts 06-08-05, 02:16 PM I work valet, and I have driven the new STS a few times. Up close, it looks decent. The interior is outstanding, and the performance is great. I just cant bear to drive a $50,000 vehicle that looks like its $30,000 little brother CTS.

wow those wheels look great! Randy_W 06-08-05, 09:05 PM I saw a black one in Detroit, thast is one good looking car. It looks very classy and nimble, not fat and sluggish! I saw a black one in Detroit, thast is one good looking car. It looks very classy and nimble, not fat and sluggish!
Agreed! though I like all Devilles my fav is this new one or my '93. Its a good thing none of the public agree with you guys. Cadillac is selling better than it ever has. I agree the DTS will be a hard sell mostly because its a car for older people. But as long as they leave it front wheel drive and with a ignition key it will sell.
The car is pretty far from ugly. northjerseynick 06-10-05, 02:14 PM yet, GM is laying everyone off and about to go bankrupt..........They need to cut the BS from their lineup............I love GM and hope they are still around in 200 years!
I think the 06 deville , doesnt look much differnt from the current model Wow what an ugly car, inside and out. Stoneage_Caddy 06-14-05, 09:48 PM Looks like a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker from behind.

LOL im glad someone finnaly agrees with me ...i almost hada flame war on my hands when i mentioned the same thing ..... I don't mind the pics of the '06 but I want to see it in person before I knock it. Stoneage_Caddy 06-14-05, 11:38 PM i dont mind the 06 much either , its growing on me ...im waiting till ed morse gets one ...then i go right down and kick some tires and see what she looks like sitting happily on the ground i dont mind the 06 much either , its growing on me ...im waiting till ed morse gets one ...then i go right down and kick some tires and see what she looks like sitting happily on the ground
I think the only thing I like better on the '03 for example, are the rims. I just don't care for the "thin spoked" rims on the new one and its too much like a wagon-wheel IMO. :hide: :drinker
But I could happily live with it. :coolgleam Stoneage_Caddy 06-14-05, 11:42 PM yup i agree , i think the wheels i snagged off Turbojimmys DTS are the prettyest set of wheels that ever came on a caddy ....maybe the chrome ones look a little beatter i still havent decided that one yup i agree , i think the wheels i snagged off Turbojimmys DTS are the prettyest set of wheels that ever came on a caddy ....maybe the chrome ones look a little beatter i still havent decided that one
Ya, yours aren't too shabby.
You could always get them chromed, but would it be worth it......
Now I want some spinners for the summer!!! Playdrv4me 06-15-05, 12:22 AM You guys havent seen one of these in person. One drove by me on the highway the other day, it was GORGEOUS, AND IT DID HAVE XENON LIGHTS! I thought that was really cool. I definitely knew it was the new Deville from several hundred yards away. If it's that distinctive, even at a distance, then maybe Cadillac will have another "hit" on their hands.
Could you truly love a car W/O Xenons Ian?? :p Playdrv4me 06-15-05, 02:14 PM If it's that distinctive, even at a distance, then maybe Cadillac will have another "hit" on their hands.

That my friend... is a GOOD question. Ive been mulling over the perfect xenon retrofit for my truck for a few months now! Stoneage_Caddy 06-15-05, 03:16 PM wait i thought the avalanche was sold ? Playdrv4me 06-15-05, 05:27 PM It was and then the guy backed out so Im in between hawking it someone else or just letting my brother take over the payments right now. If my brother takes it over then that means payment free and I get to drive my moms Elantra while shes out of the country. But if I sell it I can buy the 740 with low miles Ive always wanted so Its kind of a tough decision. I dont know what my fellow Caddy Forum members would think of me driving a Hyundai for any period of time. davesdeville 06-16-05, 02:38 AM Actually I'm pretty sure you do know what we'd think :p Actually I'm pretty sure you do know what we'd think :p
Ya Ian, we would just "BANISH" you until you bought a CTS or something. :sneaky: :histeric: Playdrv4me 06-16-05, 03:24 AM Id probably drive it for a few months and then just get that Mark VIII I was planning on a while back. At least you're not rushing into anything. lacmang 06-16-05, 06:46 PM I saw one in person, and I liked it. I hope they have an option for the gear shift to be on the steering column. I don't like the ones on the side. davesdeville 06-16-05, 10:56 PM Mark VIII. Mark VIII. Mark VIII.

lol. Itll be the Mark VIII or the 7 for sure. I CAN guarantee you that. fastrr954 09-27-06, 06:23 PM I completely disagree. My triple black performance DTS blows away all of the previous Deville's with aftermarket add-ons and mine came that way factory. fastrr954 09-27-06, 06:31 PM You do know they were the same in '05 as well don't you? It's not a deville anymore either. The performance levels in the DTS for '06 have dramaticly increased and I think the decklid now look like something sporty instead of the old way with the spot for the plate in the trunk. With the '06 design changes, I feel Cadillac may lose some of the old faithful but will open the door to a much larger group of buyers in the younger market. For anyone who hasn't driven one and has judged on looks alone, I suggest to drive one. It's much nicer than the predecessor.I think they took a huge risk by redesigning with sharp edges. I mean, the performance has been totally upgraded, but the outside designs do not look luxurious. My personal favorite years are 1994-2004.
-Mike The only thing they did wrong was to dilute the DTS name by using it for all of the cars that used to be called DeVilles.
I owned 3 DeVille DTSs prior to my 2006 and never called them DeVilles, I alway said DTS. Prior to that I owned an ETC, not an Eldorado.
Don't get me wrong, I like the other models, but I prefer the ride and handling of the DTS.
My father has had more DeVilles than I have, The other day I had the occasion to take him down a stretch of hilly curve filled road at a rather entertaining pace. He looked at me and said this isn't a DeVille, it's a big race car. Hello, old thread!
DTS rocks. Just needs some power from the rear wheels. gothicaleigh 09-29-06, 08:05 AM Hello, old thread!
DTS rocks. Just needs some power from the rear wheels.
Yeah, that lack of power from the rear wheels is my primary complaint with them. ;)
...sounds like that will be addressed with the next redesign though. megeebee 09-30-06, 07:05 PM Welcome back, Gothicaleigh! 400 HP and a 5 speed automatic would be wonderful.
Just don't let them make a commie car out of it and put the gas filler on the passenger side like thry have on all the other new products. Also, don't do any takeaways on feature and function and turn the DTs into a big CTS or wannabe like the SRX. papaisrollin 10-19-06, 10:47 PM Cadillac is keeping GM afloat. as far as designs you have to evolve and grow. Cadillac has done just that. Cateras were not selling until they were re-designed into the cts. previous poster is mentioning lincoln products..cant hold a candle to caddies. I can tell from some of the comments you either havent driven the new caddies or just not a caddy ridah :tisk: are you nutz?:cookoo:sweetest american cars on the road today..PERIOD. I thought that about the only thing a Catera and a CTS have in common is that their names both start with a C. papaisrollin 10-21-06, 12:41 PM cts stands for " catera touring sedan" That should take about 10,000 Customer Accepts off of the YE projection. This was in the BLS site. Someone received it in 2003
I've sent a letter to a Cadillac official a year ago and received the following answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in learning what our abbreviations mean. As you will notice, there is a strategy behind the structure...
Our nomenclature breaks down as follows:
XLR: X-series luxury roadster
CTS: C-series touring sedan
SRX: S-series reconfigurable crossover
STS: S-series touring sedan
DeVille DHS: DeVille high-luxury sedan
DeVille DTS: DeVille touring sedan
Escalade SUV: Sport utility vehicle
Escalade ESV: Escalade stretch vehicle
Escalade EXT: Escalade crossover truck
V-Series: High performance vehicles
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

So, the BLS stands for B-series Luxury Sedan.
And the C in CTS isn't Citation either. |
