View Full Version : Alignment problems, Tires wear Has anyone had a problem with unusual tire wear on one of these?
Cuz I heard some really funky shit....Cant saywhat however, because i might use some of the responses herein in my upcomig lawsuit related to another type of cadillac...WOULDNT WANT THE OPPOSING SIDE TO see it and, well you know. laz4112 06-06-05, 05:17 PM yes, im looking into this now. They had a couple problems with CTS tires wearing prematurely. They did not know the cause. Just bad tires from the manufactor.
Am I reading this right?? You are sueing GM over tire wear?? laz4112 06-06-05, 07:43 PM No, just that I pointed this out to the dealer and they suggested that its normal wear and that I should be rotating the tires every 3000 miles like the oil. An Atlantic Chevy service person advised me of this. I did not want to argue but thats ridiculous not to mention the fact that CTS is synthetic oil and has a built in calulator for determining the oil change. Of course I replied with this and again they instructed me to rotate the tires at 3000 miles. Also the car was recalled for some front wheel work to replace a boot assembly and I feel something was changed with the alignment. Both front tires are worn down on the outside edges and only 12000 mi. The car is garaged kept and the wife cares/drives it like a Rolls Royce. How do I prove this to the Dealer to make it good? 7 GM leases later never encounted problem like this. Laz... that state do u live in..
CTS is synthetic, but the oil sensor in the engine are just a guide. Rotating your tires every 3000 miles is crazy. You are suppost to do it ever other oil change. Or around 10K on the tires.
There is a know problem with the tires on the CTS. Its not GM's fault, but they are standing up for it. Just ask for the Service manager of the dealer if the writers will not help you. If they refuse to, let them know that you will trash them on a Survey. The survey hold heavy weight, effects the dealers authorization levels and the writers % of pay. The 1SG version of the STS uses different size tires on the front then on the rear and since you don't rotate tires from side to side you can't rotate the tires on the 1SG. All of the STS except the AWD's have different front and rear tire sizes. laz4112 06-08-05, 05:14 PM Yo Wick, soory for delay. OK that's great news. What I found is this. I have a friend not CTS owner and he told be about the camber, caster and toe alignments. It would seem that I have toe inward problem which would be an mis-alignment. I go to the dealer on Friday for SDM recall and the tires. I'm in New York. Ill keep you posted on Fridays results. Thx. nonsence , i have a 1998 sts with 70000 km and never xrosed the tyres and they are still in good shape !!!!! don_mccarter 06-09-05, 05:48 PM All of the STS except the AWD's have different front and rear tire sizes.
I believe that the 2005 V8 STS with the 1SE package has the same size tires
on the front and rear, mine has. laz4112 06-16-05, 02:58 PM I took the car to the dealer and pointed out the problem with the tires wearing o the outer edge. The car has approx 12k. They thought it was strange as well. At the end of the day I called the dealer to pick up the car and they informed they replaced both front tires and realigned. At first, I was worried about who would bear the cost. When picked the car up also completed the SDM recall, they did not charge me a dime. That's what I call VERY FAIR SERVICE. Dealer was Buz Chew in South Hampton. Cool Im backup on the road - Well my wife driving! See it all worked out, just got to have faith. kath72366 06-30-05, 01:35 PM Doesn't it seem odd that so many of 2005 CTS owners have had problems with unusual wear to the outside of the tires. I had to have mine replaced after only
2800 miles. Dealer said alignment was off from factory. Now it's in again with a bent tire rod. Dealer said I must have run over something. Which is TOTAL BULL, I NEVER did. Dealer is acting really funny about the whole situation! |
