My car was built in May. I am having the same problem of the audio not muting when i receive or place a call using the bluetooth connection. It is an intermittent problem. Does anyone know if Cadillac has a fix, or is it a waste of time taking it to the dealer. Thanks for any info in advance!

I want to buy the luxury performance sts...is it any good?

Part of the reason i want it is for the blue tooth...so does it work?

I absolutely love the overall car, just having problems with bluetooth and 5.1 surround audio. Both may be a real challenge for the dealership to understand and fix.

Welcome to my world. I've had my car since Dec. 5 and three phones and two dealership trips later it still doesn't work. Whats worse is the voice recognition which worked OK before the last "fix" doesn't work worth a flip anymore.

OK,

I thought it was just me.

My friend called me while my music was playing ... showed incoming call...

SO, I take it, and the music comes back on, blaring in their ear. I haven't tried this yet, however, I wonder if you press the MUTE button on the steering wheel, would it help?

This is aggravating, and YES, only happens once in a while.

no- on mine trying to mute using the steering wheel control or just trying to turn down the volume on the radio has no effect on the music--help

And to be just a little helpful, the dealership called me with a list of phones Cadillac says work perfectly with the 2005 STS Bluetooth. Every single last one of them have been discontinued. Wouldn't a Bluetooth phone with the handsfree profile *automatically* work with a Bluetooth compatible car? What the heck does that have to do with whether the car chooses to mute the radio or not, I say! How is that my phone's responsibility?

I have been through it all......Delivery Date: 05/04
I have a Moto v551 and a Blackberry 7100 both of which work perfectly. However, this is following multiple repairs.

#1 update CD.......didn't change a DAMN thing.
#2 new navi unit...still no luck
#3 new rearview mirror including microphone......PERFECT!

Hope this helps...

Just to be sure I understand, what was fixed by replacing the rearview mirror? Was the failure to mute problem fixed by replacing the mirror/microphone?

Something is wrong with the microphone because the voice recognition is terrible and people can never understand a thing I say when I'm handsfree.

We were just testing the bluetooth during all of the replacements and reprogrammings but the VR seems to work much better now.

Both the hollow/tunnel like sound the the person on the other end heard and the failure to mute were fixed after the mirror/mic replacement.

Good luck to all.

I have a bluetooth phone that I have paired with the Cadillac STS computer but it seems everytime I start the engine, the Bluetooth phone is not seen until I Connect again with the CONFIG button. This happens even though the phone is on and it is left in the car.

Is that the way it operates? Do I have to CONNECT every time I start the engine?

I am using the Motorola V710 with Verizon service.

Bluetooth feature still only muting the radio about 50% of the time....

Last week the dealership shop foreman told me I should change cell carriers and look on E-bay for the discontinued phones that are compatible with the STS '05 because the V710 Motorola I have and have replaced twice was not compatible with the car according to Cadillac. Customer care at Cadillac read me the same list of discontinued and obsoleted phones. How could it be the phone I said??. The phone works perfectly. How can the phone mute the radio????? His answer, "The phone is not compatible." has been the company line. "Get another phone." "The Motorola V710 is not compatible." I said, isn't Bluetooth compatibility a standard and if it is a standard wouldn't any Bluetooth capable phone with the Hands Free Profile automatically be compatible if the car meets the Bluetooth standard and Hands Free Profile?? I have had Verizon update the software, I have replaced the phone not once, but twice. This is the only Verizon Bluetooth phone other than a Blackberry. "The Motorola V710 is not compatible." once again...
:lies:
Then, lo and behold, I watched the STS demo video on the Cadillac web site and guess what phone is in the video demonstrating the Bluetooth capability.... the one and only phone in the demonstration... The Motorola V710.

make sure you select the phone as "default" otherwise the car will not automatically connect to it everytime and you will have to do it manually through the config process.....I experienced this recently when i reset it and forgot to select "default."

I m on the edge of suing Cadillac for false advertisement and breach of warranty. They advertised all this damn new tech features and none of them work. In my manual they wrote that there is a remote window roll up option....when I called they said that was a typo!!! the whole damn page? you forget a letter, don't cross a T or dot an I...You dont add a feature to the car and when it doesnt work call it a typo!!!

I just called the customer service number (800) 333-4CAD.... I told them about the problems I m having. Again, they will be looking into it. I think it's time to consider a class action, so they finally listen to me and others. The may finally hear us with one angry voice.

That class action will mean five years from now I'll get a coupon for a free oil change and a car wash.

My Moto V551 works perfectly with my 05 STS. The sound quality is good and the radio mutes as it should. So far I've no problems and my only complaint

is that I can't search a song on a DVD.

I am using a Motorola V-551 and since I had the CD upgrade it always mutes the radio and the sound quality is terrific.

I have enough of a reputation with my dealer's service department that they called me for a problem with another customer's STS. He has a Motorola 710. It works OK but does not auto answer on an incoming call. I tried my phone in his car and it also does not auto answer. I remember when I programmed my phone to my car it asked if I wanted auto answer but I can't remember where you tell it that and I can'y seem to find it in any of the manuals.

Does anyone know how get the bluetooth to auto answer?

On the V710 go to settings,in the menu, then #7 Car settings and in there you can turn auto answer on or off for the phone.

Hi Everyone!!!
If you want a phone to be completely compatible with your STS, get the V3 Motorola.
It works great!!!
After the initial set-up, it locates the phone in a flash!!
Now, if I can if someone ANYONE who has the code to get the Video to work while in DRIVE, this car would be flawless.
I have an M5 (2003 BMW) and once I got to the manufacturer's screen for set-up adn inserted the CODE, it works great.
I must admit, the screen quality on my STS far surpasss ANY type of movie, even the 5.1 is GREAT!!!
Nothing like taking your favorite girl to your "PARKING SPOT" and watching a movie with the sunroof open :stirpot: - now if only I can get it tp work during the drive there, it would get her IN THE MOOD!!!!
Any help or direction, I would be forever thankful (and so would she!!)

The Motorola V551 also works perfectly. Unfortunately it is not just the phones but in some cases the vehicle as well.

I've never been so aggravated in my life.

Next week will be my 3rd radio they will be installing my in STS. The bluetooth technology is integrated within it.

I'm still getting the same crap, with the radio remaining on, tunnel sound effect and I get ticked off just thinking about it.

AND GUESS WHAT? I bring the car in this last time, and THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT AT ALL. So they are convinced it was my cell phone, which it isn't. My friend has the exact same car and phone, and MY cell phone works perfect in his.

The guy at the dealership said "Well, maybe you might want to take the cover off the phone" .. I looked at that nut as if he had 2 heads. They make every excuse in the book, don't they.

I'm ready to bring it back for the lemon law, even though I have 15,200 miles on it, and it has to be less than 15k ... I'm over it all.

Anyone else have the problem with their EQUALIZERS resetting back to factory settings once in a blue moon, or is it just me?

Okay .. so listen to this ..

I JUST got off the phone with the dealership, okay?

2 radios later, they want me to now leave my car with them so they can try to duplicate it AGAIN .. and of course, they never can when they have it, but when you are driving down the Pike, it happens! I changed my telephone 2 times already, and my friend has the exact same car, NO PROBLEMS with my phone in his, however, HIS PHONE has the problem in my car .. Doesn't that eliminate the TELEPHONE? CHR*ST!

I'm insisting on a brand new cadillac at this point, or just to break my lease completely.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this car, however, I'm disqusted. NO ONE seems to know what is going on ... and "THEY HAVE TO DUPLICATE IT" .. DUPLICATE THIS! :annoyed:

:welcome: to my world of frustration!

Oh, and I'm getting occasional humming from the transmission which they can't seem to duplicate, HOWEVER, they did say there is a recall on it from what they are saying .. but they didn't do a damn thing to it! Has cadillac always been like this?:duck:

I am unable to connect Verizon XV6700 PDA phone to STS by Bluetooth. The phone and the STS discover each other but the STS does not accept the passkey. Calling data services at Verizon and tech support at Audiovox did not help. According to them this is not a "known issue". I would like to know if anyone else has been able to successfully establish a connection between the two or has any other suggestion. Treo 700 belonging to tech support guy at the local Verizon store also did not connect and had the same iproblem and he was wondering if this is a Windows Mobile 5 problem or there is some kind of compatibility issue between Bluetooth versions. Does anyone know what Bluetooth versions are in STS and Verizon XV6700 phone? According to Verizon guy, phone is 1.2.

Any help will be appreciated. It is frustrating and disappointing to buy a car for 65K and not being able to use the features.

I have a Treo 650. It would (note past tense) connect with my '06 STS, but the STS would not connect to the Treo. I had half a loaf: I could place calls from my Treo and hold a conversation through the STS sound system, and incoming calls would interrupt the audio program and present me with two screen buttons: "answer" and "ignore". I could not use VR dialing or calling. The Cadillac Customer Assistance Center told me that the Bluetooth implementation in the '06 STS does not support the Treo 650. Palm tech support told me that the Treo 650 does not support any GM BT implementation (trade for a Lincoln--that works with the Treo).

Then the STS BT interface failed completely. My dealer, Stewart Cadillac in Colma, CA, has ordered a replacement in-dash navigation radio unit. I'm waiting for the call telling me it's in. I hope to be back to my half-loaf soon. Maybe I'll swap the Treo for one of those Sony-Ericsson smart phones...

Is it just me, or does Bluetooth look like a non-standard "standard"?:annoyed:

Recently I test drove a new 07 Escalade. During the test drive I asked the Sales Rep. if the Bluetooth had been upgraded to handle more phones. Guess what--Bluetooth is not available in the Escalade. The Sales Rep. told me they were very surprised to find this out when the new model arrived. So could it be too many problems in the STS Bluetooth has stopped it from going to the Escalade?
