Here's one I haven't seen in the forums and it may be a dumb question. My '99 ETC exhibits what I consider oversteer. Considering that I notice it most is during HARD acceleration turning into or entering traffic/street. I am getting used to it in that I mentally and physicaly prepare to muscle the thing straight with the power still on. The first time I thumped it to enter traffic it took me quite by surprise. My question is, am I not used to the power AND the fact it is FWD? I've driven FWD vehicles for some time and never has it been this strong. Normal camber/caster, and toe-in to some degree, will help to straighten a car after a turn. It's the whole lower joint leading the axle centerline thing, I understand that. I've checked the manual and the caster is about right for a street driver stock setup as well as the camber.
So, am I just not experienced enough with this or should I be looking to have the alignment checked out? Thanks in advance. Larry T

I would say it is probably normal...a lot of power in a FWD will do a lot of torque steer...It did take me a while to get used to it, as the only front wheel drive cars I had had were an 84 Honda and a 80-something Plymouth Turismo. Check out your front tires for tread wear if you think alignment may be off, but I bet its just all the extra power you're not used to. :)

Yeah, it shocked me too. I am fully used to it now.

1st gear torque steer is the only problem I have....as long as she's in second or above there isn't a problem...If you want to spend some $ it looks like you can combat the TS with a limited slip differential.....http://www.phantomgrip.com/
