What do you guys think? I hope its that flasher unit but the hazards work ok, and the right turn signal works fine, but the left flashes like 200 mph then it works normal for a few seconds then back to 200 mph. Whats it sound like?
Check out your left side running light for any moisture. If you see moisture on the lens, take out the light and see if the electrical housing is corroded at all. My blinker had the same problem and the housing was corroded badly with water. I ordered a new light with housing and it worked fine after that. The new light already has moisture in it now. Everyone I talk to with an STS has moisture build-up in their tail lights.
Hey clusco, thanks for the reply. Exactly which one is the left side running light? Is that the one in the front end of the car on the side? Yeah, also I was listening to see if I could hear the blinkers clicking when I turn left and I can. They click in all directions and with the hazards on. Like I say, the hazards work perfectly. THey blink like normal speed. So anyways, is that the one?
Ok guys, I have a culprit. There is one light in the left rear that is part of the trunk lid that flashes dimmer than all the others. Every other light around the car looks and flashes ok. I pulled the assembly of the trunk lid and pulled the socket out. I only saw a little corrosion and rust. It has to be this though because its the only light on the car that lights dimmer than the others and both filaments dont flash like they should. What do you guys think? I think it is the culprit but the dude at KRAGEN'S said that its got to be the turn signal switch. If it's the turn signal switch then why is it only that one bulb doing this out of the four on the left rear? So just buy the socket and do the splice, RIGHT? By the way, I did check the bulb...

It's the inside running light in the rear (the tail light right next to the license plate)
Yeah thats the one thats dim. I guess just buying the socket and splicing the wires will do it. I was looking at it the other day at the dealer but I wanted to be sure because I didnt have my car with me.

Is there a seperate hazard flasher or does it just use the same unit as the signals? Cause my turn signals work but my hazards don't. My signals flash fast if I barely put pressure on the lever and go normal speed if I put enough pressure to make the lever click, I'm assuming this is normal.
Yeah it's definitely your electrical socket. Change that and everything will work fine. By the way, has anyone ever told you that the rear brake light in question shorts out when you hit the brakes?
No but thanks for walking me through it. It sucks when you buy different parts to fix something but it actually turns out to be something else.
Dave, I think I read that youve got a different flasher for your hazards. They said to turn them on and listen for them clicking or something like that.
Yo clusco, it works and it works great. Right on man!!!!!!
