I have a 2001. As I am fond of saying, I always wanted to have a Corvette. I just never knew it would have 4 doors. I have a knock or a looseness in my front end. The dealer has replaced the intermidiate steering module twice but it seems to be something closer to a ball joint or whatever as it feels to me. Anybody else?
It's probably your CV joints in the front. They need to be greased every so often with a grease gun. There is an upper and lower fitting for greasing on each CV joint on both sides of the car. Hopefully the boots on your car haven't busted yet and it will hold the grease shot. Just remove your front tires and Get-R-Done!
Do you only get the sound when hitting a rough patch (i.e. pothole) in the road? If so, you might want to check the struts mount, and bushing for wear, since they can cause a knock, or clunk. Also check your stabilizer bar bushings as well. If they go bad, they can cause the bar itself to sometims jump a little, and hit the nottom of the car, or the inside edge of the mounts, resulting in a knock or clunk.
