I have a '97 Seville SLS and the blower works sometimes and sometimes not.
Once In a while I can "fool" with the controls and it will come back on.

Any one had this problem and do you think it could be a relay or the blower motor. I understand the motors are quite expensive.

If I have to replace the blower motor, is there anywhere I can get a blueprint, or directions on how to do this?

I had a Pontiac motor go out once and I had to cut a hole in the fender well to put it in.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jake,
I don't know about 97 SLS, but my 93 Eldo had a bad blower.

There is no blower relay in mine. It is all electronically controlled.

Mine would sometimes work (intermittant), I would leave the heater on (it broke in the winter), and sometimes if I hit a bump or turned suddenly, it would come on.

After running some diagnostics I eliminated everything except for the blower motor (it sometimes showed as an open circuit).

I replaced it and from that point on I never seen the problem.

That got me wondering. I thought that maybe I had an open armature winding in the old motor and if it got jarred and maybe turned a bit, it would go past the bad winding and start working again.

I took it apart and what I found out is that there was some sort of crud on the commutator which prevented the brushes from contacting it. I never seen anything like that before! I suppose that I could have saved it and cleaned and lubed it, but I just tossed it as it was pretty old.

Good luck!
