Oh well, at least there are pics! But I think the engines will be the same.... Afreet1 05-23-05, 10:02 PM Every time I read that same press release that has been submitted to every auto reviewing site without any performance numbers I start to cringe. I think both the STS-V and the XLR-V need about 550HP to get the job done. 440HP is only "good enough" which is not what will get people to pay a premium. If this engine is such an engineering marvel then why did the SAE STS use a supercharged LS2 with 505HP? Wouldn't the elite of all cars, the demonstrator of the best technology available today use the best engine possible? According to the SAE it appears to be the LS2, pushrods and everything. Isn't the SAE STS the VERY TOP of the line? I for one support GM's SAE demonstrator. I love everything about it. Of course as soon as I hit the "Submit reply" button I will get one response that says that the 4.4L is amazing because of the high specific output, one response that says I don't represent the average luxury buyer (which isn't the target for the V series anyways), and confirmatory responses from the CTS-V crowd. davesdeville 05-24-05, 04:36 AM The CTS-V is the hot rod of the group, the STS and XLR are the refined luxury cars. The 4.4 is good enough, it would be nice to see a bit more power, but it would be nicest if they offered the XV12 to shut everyone up. I bet it couldn't be done for less than $140,000. 90Brougham350 07-03-05, 02:48 PM They would if they ever really wanted to beat the competition instead of just barely falling short or matching. Brian Ralph 07-06-05, 05:57 PM They would if they ever really wanted to beat the competition instead of just barely falling short or matching. Brian Matching isn't such a bad thing, especially considering where Cadillac was 5 or 7 years ago. Give them some time to get it right and improve on the current technology, etc. If they put a 750 hp engine in the XLR-V or the STS-V, then everyone would complain about the price. People on the forum have mentioned that they won't pay over 70k for an STS-V, but you get what you pay for. It would be kick-azz if they can come up with better numbers than the aMG, and I bet they might. | |
