The title says it all.

Have you ever heard of this?

Doesn't your trans have a TV cable running from the throttle body to the transmission...??? Maybe it is sticking or needs adjustment.

Take the air cleaner off and look at the throttle body linkage on the RH (passenger) side. There should be a cable from the throttle body down to the trans on that side. Press the locking tab on the cable attachment at the throttle body. While holding down the locking tab pull hard on the cable housing or sheath. Pull away from the throttle body and the cable should slide out 1/4 inch or so when it is unlocked. While holding the cable out release the locking tab. Now simply move the throttle lever to the full throttle position. You should hear the cable automatically adjust as it goes zzziippp when you move the throttle to full throttle. That is all that is required...if the TV cable is moving freely and not damaged.

Hmmmm, I'll just climb on the front and see if I can spot it. My car is an 84 SDV that has had a transmission rebuild by a TRANSCO cert. shop (whatever that means) and I think a new long block HT4100. I'd have to check recipts. I remember seeing a kind of rusty/screwed up cable sheething coming out from the back of the TBI or something. Now that I have it tuned up it's time to knit-pick the poor, old, POS.

Thank you so much for articulating what to look for and how to adjust it! Thanks! Man, you're a life-saver. I was thinking the worst, as I've never owned an automatic GM transmission. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/images/smilies/Golden%20Smilie.bmphahahah.
