does any one of you who drive the 05 STS V 6 had it to top speed?

Here in Germany the papers say 230 kph (143 mph) but maybe one of you can tell me.

If not, I test drive one in the nwxt two weeks, than I let you guys know.

BTW the V8 I drove last monday ( press car from switzerland ) I had it to 265 kph ( 165 mph )

I got 127 last night, before shutting it down it was pulling hard. I could see it hitting 143 with no problem.

did the speed limiter shut it down or you just lift your gas-foot?

My DTS is limited to 130 mph, I have the H-rated tires on, which allows that top speed. I don`t like this here on the autobahns, because the power would go up to 160 (like the old STS).

How is your fuel economy???

I shut it down, some jack*** in a Dodge stratus coupe throught he was going to pass me getting on the expressway. He never got past the rear passanger door.

Its still fairly new, less than 1000 m/ks, trying to be nice to it. Just not working, it wants to go faster.

Fuel is ok, getting around 310 for a tank, when I just drive it normally. I expect it to go up after break in is done. And I stay out of it at every light.

Mine is Black w/ the black interior. Got the windows tinted on Friday. My mother says it looke like a Mafia car. Tinting the windows was the best thing I did for the car. Plus living in Texas w/ black leather u kind of have no choice. Last 2 cars I owned were Silver, one hit by a drunk driver, the other side swiped, rear ended, then again rear ended. I took the hint, no more silver. Bought the wife a Green trailblazer last time, which is what I traded in for the STS.

They had a Silver w/black, Redline w/ Cream, Black w/grey, Black w/black or Smoke w/black. The choice was between the Redline and the Black... The black was to beautiful to pass. Sales person is actually a friend on the test drive she talked herself into buy the Redline I passed on. I put 482 miles on it this weekend. I have never driven a car that I liked as much as this one. Plus the looks from the CTS drivers are worth the additional expense.

Yes, I believe it`s real good looking. What you think about a V grill? It would match the lower grill, which is already mesh very good.

I do like the Mesh grill. Little steep at $495 for just a grill. I will wait to see how much Cadillac will sell them from the factory. I can get a deal on thoses. But it does look very nice.

I think you are right to wait a little. As I see on ebay the sale the CTS V grill for arround $ 220 and that`s the original. But I get me one too, love the look.
Can you post some pics of your black beauty???

I´m from Kitzingen - germany. Solingen its about 200 miles away.

My dealer just invited me to take a test drive with this brand new light plat. STS, but for a test drive I really won`t take a car with 16 km on the odometer. But anyhow I let you know soon what I think of the V6 and whats top speed it does.

His test speed will not match our American models, we have 2 things that limit our speed. One is the REV limiter the other is a speed limiter(both can be over come with no adverse affects) you just need a good friend at a dealership willing to change the programing for those 2 items. I've had mine done and have had it to 147MPH. I would not advocate wiping out the REV limiter altogether just bump it up by 2000 rpm's. The speed limiter is set for 130mph wiping it out has no effect on anything except top speed, your still protected from over REVS by the REV limiter. Hey if you can get it done, GO FOR IT.:coolgleam

147 mph sounds real good for a V6 in this heavy car:thumbsup:
I´m wondering that the US STS is limited to 130 mph because you have the same as the export-model V-rated tires on. That means they are good up to 149mph or 240 kph. I think the export V6 will stop that 149 mph but I check it out soon and let you know.
My DTS is an US-model and it stops at 130 mph (210 kph) but it just has the H-rated tires on which allows only this 130

Mgross u have a V6 or a 8? Getting the limiters turned off is not a problem for me at all. 149 is cooking, i bet it still rides like a dream though

well, in my experience, I have only been able to get it upto 122 MPH.

At 115 MPH, if you have traction control enabled, activates itself and does not let you go any faster. At this time you will need to de-activate it.

I realistically can not see the car safely doing more than about 140 MPH.

I test drove the STS V8 and had it up to 265 kph (165 mph) and the car feels so secure you won`t believe. I think the export-model of the STS with the V6 will do arround 240-250 kph ( thats 149-155 mph) but I let you know this by next week-end because I test drive one here and mayby buy it.

BTW my XLR I had the fastest 278 kph (173 mph)

I was only in 5th gear at approx 3500rpm. it could have gone more.

If i had a camera with me, a picture would have definitely been posted.

so right now, for me, its officially 121/122.

do you have the V rated tires on yours? I think the tires from the V6 are the same as the european model and they would be good for 149 mph.

I still waiting on a test of the STS V6 in Road & Track or Car and Driver, they are the only ones testing out the top speed.

I took a look at the Car&Driver aug/04 and the tested a SRX V6 there with 126 mph top speed (governer limited). It has H rated tires on which is good for 130 mph - sounds OK but yours, with the V-rated tires should be doing more than 122 mph

Not really. He stated that he had the speed limiter and rev limiter removed. Which is why he was able to hit 147MPH. I have not been able to have it removed, which would explain why I can only do 121 MPH.

Edit: I'm about 150 miles away from home, and I don't have my car here, but when I do get home, I'll check to see what the tires are rated for.

Hi, I didn`t know he had his speed-limiter removed. But I think the V6 tires of yours are the same the export models have on. (V6)
