Finally got up enough guts to take the 2005 STS to the car wash. I put my keys and FOB in the compartment between the seats and gave a lecture on how to start the car to the intake guy. Then went around to the end of the automatic wash line and stood there ready to pouce on the emergency cut off. In previous visits with other cars it seems the receiver of the car plays the game of watching cars coming from behind and waiting till the last minute to get into the front car, start it, and drive it out of the way. Even though I explained to the manager who waited with me at the end of the line, he was unable to start the car when he got in it. Not sure why.....but I went in the car and started it as usual.

I Know that some of you will think I am crazy for even taking the car to the car wash....but I was wondering what other do to avoid having the car get hit in the rear end because the workers don't know how to start up the car.

Why couldnt he start it? Dont you just push a button on the dash to start it?

U hold the brake down and hit the start button and it comes on. The best way to do it, is not to take it to them. I just usually run mine through the touchless car washes, jets only no brushes.

You have to step on the brake and then push the button....but these guys play Russian Roulette with the next car coming down the line. They wait until the last minute before getting into the car to start the motor and get it out of the way. Even when I explain it at the front of the line, one does not know who is going to be at the end and they either don't get the message or don't understand it. In any case by the time they realize they can't get the car started, the next car is there.

Why is the car turned off in the first place. Around here (nothern NJ) they leave them running while they get dragged through.
