I am thinking about installing side body moldings on my STS to prevent dings and because I think the car would look better. The sides just look blank and bland. Does anyone have any information about where I can obtain the side body moldings or anyone who has any photos of their STS with the moldings.

I am with you!
I've checked dealers and GM parts direct, nobody can show me a picture or illustration of molding design or appearance on the STS. It is available in only limited colors (black & silver??) or primed. Dealer quoted about $150 to paint and I think @$270. for molding. They indicate it would not even come with a template on "recommended installation location / angle", they would just eye ball it!
Anybody have a picture of their STS with body side moldings?

Do a search, this has been discussed before. I have seen it and so have many others it seems to ruin the profile of the car. My opinion tho..

Cadillac puts the side body moldings on the CTS (same color as the car) and I think it looks good on the CTS.
Cadillac wanted the bare side, no molding, trying to please and up their sales in Europe. They have better go back to the american style and HP, which I think will improve their sales.

I picked up my White Diamond 1SG AWD STS on Friday. I went down on Wednesday to sit with the F&I guy who tried to sell me on the moldings. My wife liked them and thought it was a good idea, so I asked the price - $495! A third party comes in and installs the moldings after painting them to match the body color. They were self-adhesive moldings and the front of one was lifting off behind the front wheel on an STS on the showroom floor.

I spoke with a buddy who sells Audis and he thought that was too high. He suggested ordering moldings from the Internet (JC Whitney?) and then having my body shop paint them up, or just asking my body shop to take care of the whole thing. He also had another good point - the placement of the molding (presumably in line with the bumper seam like they had at the dealership) may not be the optimal placement to actually do any good against door dings.

I tell u right now. u buy moldings for your Cadillac from JC Whitney. No are not going to appericate the quality. $500 is not bad. Its $265 just for the moldings primed. Then they have to spray that 3 stage paint job because the white is a pearl. $500 is not bad. The prep work is everything on the side moldings, if the surface is not clean and pre-treated. There not going to stick.

Cadillac does sell them off of there GM parts web-site. I have seen the moldings they are nice, but never on a car. They are thin, CTS style. I think the car looks better without them. smooth lines is what sells cars. Not body side molding.

-- Robert... u think Cadillac should go back to the American style and performance. The cars now are faster than any Cadillac has ever been, they have high HP ratings than previous years. Plus the Old Caddy styling is just plain ugly. Sales proved that most of american agreed they were ugly. Cadillac has a complete winner with all there cars. I would of never looked at a Cadillac prior to the building of the CTS, SRX, XLR, STS, and DTS. I can not wait to see the ULS...
