Had a new serpantine belt put on my car 3 weeks ago since the other one was several years old, today the belt started slipping and now it is fraying!!! Hope i can make it to the garage, anyway, beside my first thought of improper installation, or a defective belt, any other casues that may have brought this on that anyone knows of? Just want to make sure it dont happen again.

Wrong belt..??

Frozen idler pulley or idle pulley on the tensioner...???

Locked up AC compressor or failed AC hub bearing so that the hub/pulley is not turning....???

Misrouted belt...???

Hard to guess without seeing it. A belt should go 100K or more so obviously something is wrong.
