What I don't understand is how they pushed out 483 HP on a 4.3L engine! (ok maybe it is because they spin it so fast they can get extra power)

The F430 has a power to weight of 0.144, XLR-V has a power to weight of 0.115. So basically 454 pounds lighter than the XLR-V with 43 more horses. Now if the XLR-V has 550HP, the power to weight would be similar, do you think it would be an even match then? Would it matter between the NA vs. FI engines?

The F430 has max power at 8500 rpm and max torque at 5250, vs. 6400 rpm and 3600 for the XLR-V. So the XLR-V should launch off the line for about 1/2 a second then get overtaken, of course the lighter weight of the F430 might negate that.

The 360 Modena was about a 4.4 0-60 if I recall. The F430 should be faster, so I have a feeling that the ZLR-V won't be a match for it under any circumstances. The XLR-V isn't out to compete with the Ferrari's IMO, it's against the Benz SL series, and BMW's 6 series now. Ferrari is more of a pure sports car than the XLR will be.

the XLR-V needs a big-bore V12,and a paddle shift(tiptronic)six-speed tranny.

I think an XV12 would do it. If they could fit it under the hood that is...

damn right ....

one problem with that C4 with the 16 .....they couldnt keep driveshafts in it ....

that sort of thing happens when you siamese 2 ZR1 engines and slide them into a vette
