So here's the story, I have a 90 Eldo base model sitting in my driveway as it was my first car, I now have a 98 ETC (has some engine problems which may just get replaced and the A/C just went so i'm gonna be dumping money into it first) BUT, I wanted to get some feedback on options for the 4.5 in the 90.
Ideally this baby is gonna be my project car but I need some info on what options/possibilties there are considering this thing is still fairly electronic. Can it be Turbo'd/SC'd? I know this car never was meant to do anything like this but I figure if I can get the parts cheap it'll be more entertainment than sitting in front of the tv/binge drinking all summer. Any reference or pointers will be greatly appreciated! The car needs some suspension work, a new power steering pump, the A/C is toast, and the tranny after 180k prolly will need replacement but i'm not worried about that right now as all of that is cheap and easy to do, the real hard parts I forsee is somehow cramming either an SC or turbo under the hood, not to mention the intercooler. Can the stock be replaced w/a smaller higher performance all aluminum rad to free up some space? Even moving the battery to the trunk I still don't forsee how I'm gonna have enough room. Can the timing be manually adjusted or is it electronically controlled, and if so can a new ignition pack fix the problem of detonation in a forced induction setup? I remember a page on the the old Caddyinfo.com forum regarding a supercharge kit for this engine but I doubt it ever sold so i'm more interested in a DIY approach.
