: B&B header, UUC shifter review *pics* *long*

OK guys. 1 day with the B&B headers and UUC shifter. Already had the B&B 3" resonator system.

Header: The shop charged me $150 for install. I would have paid $1150, I can't do these things. They said the hardest part was moving the spark plug wires, after that it was very simple. As you can see from the pics there are NO clearance issues. There is tons of room between the pipes and engine bay sides. There is nothing to overheat and catch fire (as have several C6s with headers, over on a corvette board). The closest objects are:
Driver side: the metal steering shaft.
Passenger: 2 large, heat-tape wrapped wires to the starter.
Heat will not be an issue. The engine bay was no hotter than stock. After shutting down I was able to touch the pipes/cats within 30 minutes. Those of you wrapping the pipes I really think it's a waste of time, and may lead to premature corrosion. They are stainless after all.
Driving? OH MAN...she is perky beyond belief now. Rev happy. She has so much more power that accelerating with TC off but ST on, sets ST off!! I never did that stock. Its a true beast. Absolute must do mod.
Sound? AWESOME!! She is lower, "rumblier", and a bit louder. NO DRONE. You B&B guys who claim drone, it's not drone. It's called "lugging". It's less with the headers anyway. WOT it is louder. Cruising it is not. Absolute perfection.
Fit/Finish? Check the pics. The welds are beautiful. Look how well the cats mate with the lead pipes. Gee whiz, no leaks either. LOL

UUC: DO IT, DO IT NOW. I thought I was happy with the stocker. Nope. It sucked. The shifts are crisp, precise, perfect now. NO NOISE. Unlike other aftermarket shifters, UUC is just the stalk. There is no whine, no vibration, no nothing. Just about 20% shorter throws and the same increase in effort. Reverse takes the most effort. But she reminds me of the perfection of my old 996 Porsche shifter now. The shop charged $175 for install here, said it was a "pain" but was not hard, just tedious.

Dyno: Well let me explain. The graph is SAE corrected. The pre- run in red was COLD engine. The post-header run in blue was HOT engine.
Same dyno (no graph) HOT engine the pre- run was 321/317.
So if you compare hot to hot, i gained 24HP. Especially note the top-end gains. She revs so freely now you get to those high RPMs really fast :D
Dyno vid, thanks StealthV

Tune: UGH. My stock A/F was below 10 for all the runs. My custom PCM tune is in my car now, and I will dyno that soon. Maybe Friday.

Urb,

Guess I'll need to make a road trip down there and drop off my car for the day and let these guys put the headers and shifter in. If you are that happy with there work, I'd rather make the drive.

:)
That would rock. Considering MTI is so pricey, it's certainly worth the gas to make it here.

Took them 2 days....but I'm sure they could do it in 1 for you being an out of towner....and if not, you can crash for free at my place and enjoy some Shiners with me :)
