I'm looking for information about the Class 2 Databus.
I'm looking into a project in which I would need to send a wire to Splice Pack SP303. That Splice Pack is a Class 2 hub. 10 wires (or so) go into this connector, and they all appear to be connected on the inside.
I have a couple of questions:
1) This splice pack is described in the Service Manual as having a "Star Pattern" (if that helps). In this Splice Pack (or any databus hub), is there a microchip that regulates where the signals go, or are all of those wires interconnected as one (meaning all signals get sent to all devices at all times)? If you download this zip file (http://www.adamporter.com/media/fuseandsplicepics.zip), there are a couple of pictures of the splice pack (the connector with all-purple wires coming out of it). The other pictures are of a fuse box connector, and can be ignored.
2) One of the wires in this splice pack goes to a control module for the air bags. Is it safe to plug in an extra wire in the appropriate empty slot in the connector? Or would it be safe to pull apart that splice pack connector (with the car off) in order to plug in the wire?
Thanks for any info you can give!
