94 Eldo ETC - When I wash my engine the car runs rough for several days then runs ok. Is this norm or should I be concerned about an electrical problem somewhere under the hood? A year ago my control module went out shortly after I washed the engin and had to replace. Could I have bad spark plug wires?

IMO, I never "wash" my engine. I will, however, wipe it down. To do a thorough cleaning, I will have a bucket of water, a wet rag, some spray cleaner to spray on the wet rag, and a dry rag to buff it out. There is plenty of electrical stuff under your hood. Did you cover up your coil packs? You may have gotten moisture under those. That would certainly cause rough running until it dries out. There are a number of things you could have gotten wet. Needless to say, it is not good for those parts.

It is probably some electrical part getting wet and takes a few days to dry out. A trick I've used in the past is to spray all the electrical stuff I can see and get to with a silicon spray. It will help divert the water away from the electrical components.

Just my 2 cents worth.

:cookoo: You can spray all of your electrical componantr with W-D40.It will dry things up for you.Be carefull and give it a few min. before you start the car as W-D40 will burn.I don't think that it is any more combustible than any other silicone spray but it does work as well....the rangatang

It is pretty normal after a wash to run rough. You just got moisture on a plug wire or in a plug cavity in the cam cover. Remove the plug wires and use compressed air to blow out any moisture. Take it for a good long ride to heat it up and dry it out. I'd be careful with silicone spray. I have heard it is instant death to O2 sensors.

Ranger is exactly right. As you have probably noticed the N*'s plugs are set a fair distance into the valve cover. when power washing or steam cleaning water collects down in there and interferes with the spark, remove the wires and blow them out thoroughly, usually it will clear up. but in the future use water sparingly while washing your engine.
