I just got the full $349 King Cobra Ram Air Vararam system. My gas mileage is down about 1 mpg (I bought the thing for the 2-3 mpg improvement). As far as the HP goes, I feel no difference. Save yourself $250-$350 and forget it. I'm sending mine back.

I put the cold air in my truck and I noticed a huge gain in mpg with the stock wheels. Now that my 24's are on tyhe mpg has gone down to about 13-14. I might agree with you on the mpg...but I have felt a lot more power with the air system. I dont know how much power the volant makes but I am curious. If you return yours, tell us how it went.

I installed a Airaid on my 00 and the mpg went down. Once I got over wanting to hear the great sound at wot, the mpg went up about 1 mpg and I did notice a power gain. It will never pay for itself, but we use it in the Sierra's many times during the year and that is the main reason I got it.

You said a mouthful here. The reason people never appreciate an increase in mileage is because they're always stomping the accelerator to hear that wonderful intake noise. There are days when I love the sound from my K&N on my 03 Lade. Then there are days when I'd rather not hear it at all. The K&N will never pay for itself. All of these intakes are overpriced products that are well marketed to horse power loving, do-it-yourself guys......like us.

Very Well Said. I think they are all the same, I just found the vararam a little cheaper than the volant and that is what made me buy it.

I have two customers that have the Vararam on their Escalade and SS truck, with a computer programmer the Vararam's made a huge difference in performance (I never saw any MPG increases in any of my K&N's, Vararam's or Volant) , my Volant made a huge difference in performance on my Escalade, but it took computer tuning to get better MPG. :)

I put a vararam on my 02' Escalade yesterday.

I did not notice much of a difference.

I had one on my 02' Z06 corvette with tuning and longtube headers.

I did not notice much change when I firs put it on the Z, but when I took the Vararam and the headers off, the difference was huge.

I think tuning and headers, along with the Vararam, will make a much bigger difference. I will let everyone know my results when I get some headers on my truck.
