I have a 2004 EXT with the non-navigation system installed. I also have a large DVD system installed which unfortunately uses the FM transmitter for the sound output...the quality is pretty good in most areas. The problem now is i want to hook my Ipod into my system - i've tried their FM transmitter and the tape adapter...not impressed with either. I'd like to get the adapter i can hook into the system that creates extra Aux Inputs - but after reading the warnings about if the dealer flashed the memory during service it will destroy the cars computer... Does anyone have any advice on solutions? Thank you...

You want to get the cd changer cable that has female rca's on the end. then you want to buy a monster cable rca to mini. the changer cable goes into your deck, and the monster cable to the female rcas. the end of it , the mini jack will go right to your ipod for great digital sound. you can also hookup a laptop or portable xm radio to the mini jack. it sounds great.

You have one of 3 choices:

1- get a PXGM24 device with the 24-pin connector that will give you aux1 and aux2 selectable via the BAND button in your radio. You will still be able to use your CD changer and RSE. But as you read, the radio's fuse will have to be removed (as a precaution) while flashing the car's PCM.

2- get the one with the 12-pin that will give you the aux as an option either via the BAND or the SRC button. The IPOD2CAR one will let you control your IPOD like the CD changer from the radio and the steering wheel. You will have to disable either the CD changer or the RSE if you use the one with the 12-pin harness only.

3- get the one that interrupts the CD changer audio wires. CD changer will have to be selected (probably playing something) and you switch the aux input from a selector box that comes with the device.

I got 1 from www.peripheralelectronics.com, installed, working fine. I actually have an extra one now. I can sell it to you if you're coming over to Bahrain one day. Or if I'm going to Dubai (I might actually go soon) :)

You have an extra PXGM24? I would be interested...i could actually make use of 2 extra inputs - then i can connect my DVD and iPod and not have to worry about any interference. I would like to remove the radio fuse anyway, i don't mind the technicians listening to the radio when they service the vehicle...but i'd appreciate it if they didn't leave Hindi FM on loud when i got my truck back!
My UAE email is - efinbow@eim.ae - if you want to drop me a line. I haven't got any plans to visit Bahrain in the immediate future, i'm sure you'd rather come to Dubai!
