The Chiltons (which is printed by Haynes which explains why it sucks) doesn't even have the throttle body tune-up maintance in it. I know most of you wanna tell me to search for bbobynski's post, but I couldn't find it. Only thing close I found was someone mentioning a toothbrush on the EGR tubes.:yup:
p.s. can you tell me wht the EGR tubes look like?:gungrin::greendude:xeek::greendude

That is the FIRST time I have EVER heard ANYONE describe the HT4100 as "too big"......LOL LOL LOL LOL
You really do not need to clean the throttle body or EGR tubes on that package. It has throttle body injection and one nice thing about throttle body injection is that all that gas sluicing down the throttle bores from the injectors above is that it keeps everything nice and clean in that area. Nothing like a constant flow of cleaning solvent (gasoline) to keep the throttle bores, blades and EGR tubes clean.
The throttle body and EGR tube cleaning comes on the later model year engines...from 1990 on. It doesn't apply to the TBI motors.

:elvis1::gun2: LOL, oh.:jawdrop:
Well, I sprayed the entire TBI off with brake cleaner :brutal:, while the the throttle bores stuffed with paper towels to catch the dirt sludge. I tootbrushed the thick caking of grease and dirt on the dome donut things right at the nozzle of the injectors, as well as where the injector housing meets in the center. The rest of the TBI just had some light orange brown haze that wiped right off. I( also washed the can around the TBI, as well as all the air intake hoses and housings.
I probably ruined the seals with the brake cleaner, so do I need to replace them? The cork air filter housing seals are old, so I will track some of those down, too. THE THING IS CLEAN.:burn: it's too big because of all that steel body reinforcement)
I would block the TBI blades open (engine off please....) and get a toothbrush or fat pipe cleaner and a can of X66A (from your local GM dealer of course) and scrub away. That stuff is awesome to dissolve petroleum residue. It is what it was created for. "Top Cyl Cleaner", the junk that gets encrusted on the tops of intake valves and chambers and pistons. GM Approved...
