View Full Version : What is your STS wish list?

The conditions: it can not seriously alter the price of the car (which would be defined as $2,000 USD) This is mainly to avoid extremes (sixteen cylinder motors, refrigerated ice chest, etc)

I've had the STS for a while and there are a few things I wish it had that it doesn't have. I have the 1SB package.

1. illuminated (or glow in the dark) remotes
2. a louder horn (i couldn't find my car at school the other day, i hit the panic button so it would honk the horn so that i can find the car. i finally heard it when i was 10 feet away, after i saw the car... whats the point if you need to be that close???!)
3. motorized trunk (i hate slamming it)
4. a code so that you can use the radio (this is more personal than anything, but i hate it when someone else uses my car and completely adjusts everything in the radio to them, it pisses me off) or maybe have a completely different set of presets and functions for each control... (including EQ and radio station preset settings)
5. lockable center console (like the 2002 escalade had)
and finally
6. put some mounting holes for the bottom of the license plate!

Massaging seats would be really nice but I'm sure that will easily knock over the price limit of $2k

How about you people, what would make the STS an even better car (in your opinion) without getting too crazy?

I wish it had dual mode OnStar.

I wish you could option the Bose 5.1 system or the 18in wheels without having to purchase the luxury performance package.

I wish the options where a little more open, and not just offered as packages.

Power trunk would be a nice feature.
MP3 player stock, like the phat noise in the Uplanders.

Put the key inside the key fob. Battery dies, flip a switch on the fob and the key comes out. Like Mercedes key fobs.

Thinks like the Rainsensing wipers and tire psi monitors should be standard items.

1: A 21 gallon gas tank.

2: 2-3 inch more leg room for the rear seats.

3: A larger glove box in the dash.

4: Chrome strips on the interior as shown for the STS V.

5: Distance sensors for the front of the car (not just the rear).

6: a Heads up Display option without having to order the automatic cruise/distance control.

I agree the horn should be louder, but my STS does have everything I want. The remote should have the bvglari isignia like the XLR does and it should be easier to remote start my car, godamnit. They should also offer an exhaust in my opinion as well as more colors, heated and cooled cupholders would be really nice, and the V-grille from the dealership instead of buying the aftermarket. The navigation should be more indepth as well.

1. Larger Glove Box, for sure.

2. Reprogram the Keyless entry to provide warning immediately when the car is being driven without the keyfob in the car. This will avoid you finding yourself 200 miles from your keyfob with a dead engine and no way to start it.

3. Send Navigation programmers over to Lexus to learn how to program the same navigation system that is in the both the STS and the LS430

4. Allow Full operation of the Navigation system while driving if there is a passenger detected in the passenger seat. In the balance of things, I think it is more dangerous when on major highways to pull over to the side so that one can use or query the navigation system. Passengers would be able to take care of the navigation needs while the driver is paying attention to the road. Besides it would divert my passenger's attention from trying to drive the car from the right seat and give them something useful to do.

5. The one Naviagation function that is allowed when driving is to use the pre-set destinations. These are numbered 1 to 5 or 6 but for some unexplained reason the programmers do not allow unique icons to identify the destination for this group....although you can select icons for any other memory point. So here you are driving and want to go to one of these destinations but you don't know which icon belongs to which destination.

6. Raise the front of the car a few inches to avoid damaging the underside when pulling up to a parking space marker.

7. Ultrasound in the front bumper (center and sides) to facilitate straight in garage parking and parallel parkiing

8. Add OBEX to bluetooth options so that one can download their cell phone directory to the car phone directory.

9. Decrease the latent delay in response in the adaptive cruise control system. For instance if a car pulls in front of you there is too much of a delay before the STS starts slowing down and if the car in front moves out of the way, there is too much of a delay before your car starts picking up speed again. This causes unnatural, unpredictable accelerating and decelerating movements of the car.

1. The spoiler must be optional (not obligatory) on the Luxury Performance package.
2. The Adaptive Cruise Control without that ugly emblem on the grill.

Allow rainsensing wipers to be left on without the headlights on. This one really bugs me. I thought the rainsense wipers would be a "set it and forget it" feature but if you set the wiper lever in rainsense mode the headlights come on...Even when there isn't a cloud in the sky and the UV index is maxed out.

I realize the lights should be on if it's raining but this should be simple. Program the system so the rainsense wipers can be left on with the lights off. At the first detection of rain and the first sweep of the wipers the lights go on. After 1/2 hour of no wiper sweep the lights go off.

-A switch for the two different ride suspensions on the dash or center console.

-Bigger glovebox and/or center console.

-Bigger gas tank.

:banghead: A Front End that will not chip from road salt, sand, and or small debris... I'm disappointed about how easy it is to make deep nicks in the front end. On-star should provide a choice of either Verizon or Sprint as a minimum choice for phone service. The wiper controls are not STS best/smartest :cookoo: innovation for sure…

-I wish the parking brake disengaged automatically when you shift into reverse or drive. (like on the Lincolns)

On-star is available with Verizon. As long as you have a Verizon Digital phone, you can share the mins with the car. Read your on-star manual or check out there web-site it explains how to set it up.

1. forgot that one..

2. it does, at least mine did once. my dad drove me to the supermarket, i had the fob in my pockets, the second i backed off from the car, it honked and said FOB NOT DETECTED, or something to that degree.

3-5 i dont have the navi, i didnt get it for those reasons...

6. the rubber thing protects it. it sure saved a couple curse words and screaming and money in repairs. it should be a *TAD* higher though...

7. that would be nice...

8. dont really care about.

9. i can't afford the acc :(

It is very good at letting you know when you take the fob out of the car, but try starting the motor, getting out of the car to do something and leaving the keyfob behind. Then travel a few miles or 250 miles and turn the motor off. See the thread "Total Lockout-Beware" :tisk:

1. Ditto the glove box/storage space. This is my 3rd STS, and every one has been ridiculously short of storage space.

2. Ditto trunk. Should be standard on EVERY Cadillac.

3. Wish there was more leg room for the DRIVER. I'm still having trouble finding a comfortable position. The position of the gas pedal is too close to the seat; to stretch my leg out like I want to do, puts the steering wheel is too far from my body. Much less comfortable than my '01.

I think I've got a great idea for a feature that's doable, relatively cheap, and one that would sell a lot of Caddies. Question is how to present it and get fair compensation from Cadillac/GM.

exactly how big are you? im 6' and weigh 300 lbs (about 1.83m and 136 kg's for you metric freaks) and i found my most comfortable position is alot less than all the way back.

i kind of thought it had too much room for the driver (thats never a bad thing, until someone needs to sit behind the driver)

It's not that there's not enough leg room to be had. But if I put the seat back far enough to stretch my leg, the steering wheel is too far away for comfort.

I'd also prefer it if the rear of the seat would go up, but not the front. At a very early stage of raising the seat, the front goes up more than the back, creating too much of a 'leaning back' feeling.

Don't get me wrong I love the car, and I'm starting to get used to it. But I was used to my 2001 STS, and for my personal comfort zone, the '01 fit me better.

I would like the mirror to have the compass in the upper right. It does not if you have the NAV system, and the Nav compass is difficult to read while driving.

How about an engine that isn't likely to need an expensive headgasket / block thread repair.....

how to improve the breed? Every new owner shold receive a questionaire from GM so they could get real feedback from real users (not engineers) and make improvements that would make the consumers happy.Further they should hire a novice and teach him or her to use it ,and have that person write the instruction manual ,especially for the navigation system.Any such manual written by a geek tends to be gobeldegook to us mere mortals.
