Found a 78 Eldorado today, for sale. The price read $1,500.00 or $4,500.00, it was so faded I couldnt tell, I couldnt even read the phone number. It has a deep tint, a few tears in the seats, not mint, but good condition. Dont know what it has or doesnt have, I think I read they have a 425 CI engine?

Anyone have specs for this car? HP? Torque? Are they fast or slow? 0-60, quarter mile, etc...

These cars are pretty slow. They outweigh your 94 Fleetwood by about 400 pounds at 4900 pounds, and have 180hp. There are a few cheap mods that would help it out quite a bit though.

Hey Dave!
I was wondering what engine the 78 eldo has in it and what is the torque output at what RPM? Could a person bolt a 501 or 472 into the 78 eldo?
terrible one

I'm sure that there is a way to bolt such an engine in there, after the proper mods.

The 425 that's in there is essentially the same engine as the 472 or 500 (501 was some kind of emissions sticker, nothing to do with engine displacement.) So it's a fairly straightforward swap, you might have to use the accessories from the 425 though. The 425 was rated at 320ft.lbs. at 2000rpm, but I'd say that's a fairly conservative rating.
