Quick lil question........would the mileage of a 93 seville sls be stored in the computer somewhere in the car, or is it stored in the instrument cluster itself.
The reason I ask is because my a/c controls failed and I got another cluster from another seville that had been totalled. The totalled car has more miles than my current car, and it would really suck if I got 200,000 miles when I should only have 110,000.
any help would be great
Thanks
I beleive it is stored in the PCM.

so therefore if i were to switch clusters my mileage reading would stay the same???
If the '93 cluster setup is like my '96, then the ODO will be stored in the cluster & not in the PCM.
Check out these posts & you'll see what I and a couple of others discovered when we changed out our clusters.

The 1993 cluster has an opening on the back where you will see the EPROM chip. The EPROM chip is pressed into a socket. You will need to "carefully" remove the EPROM chip pulling straight up evenly from both sides as not to bend the tiny terminal legs. (Yes, there is a tool for this, and you can get one at Radio Shack if you like but it is not imperative) First remove the high mileage one for practice, then remove the other from your original cluster. The miles will reset to what was stored on the old cluster. Be very very very careful not to short the pins (little legs) by setting the good EPROM on or near a magnetized surface, or one that has a high static charge like a console, carpet, or dash. There is a small locater notch on the EPROM, note the orientation BEFORE you remove it, because yes, it will go in backward, and you really don't want to do that.

First off i want to say thanks to all those that replied. I dont post too often, but i do visit this board everyday and read a lot. Most of the time when i do post I dont get too many replys, so i just wanted to say thanks......neways
just to clarify things.....all i need to do to have the replacement cluster read my original miles is to take the EPROM chip off my current cluster and put it on the replacemant cluster. seems simple enough.:) is that actual process difficult??? would i be able to do it myself if i have had no experience with electronic boards and such??
once again thanks very much everyone for your input
