I notice the British are more critical of cars in general, and demand more.

Read it good the first time because it might not let you in the second time w/o registering!

"After two failed attempts at grabbing a slice of the UK car market, Cadillac bosses have accepted that there is no future in trumpeting the past when developing new products for British car buyers."

LOL...yank tank.

I think its a positive review overall but its rife with class double entendre....

"Downsides include a lack of chassis feedback in sweeping corners, plus a tendency to fidget over uneven surfaces in sports mode. The V8's likely £42,500 price sounds a lot, but this car shows US engineers have listened, learned and applied important lessons"

"Its not the best, but its much better" is what he's sayin......pretty decent review all in all.

I think that price is horrendous for the British! Considering their gas prices, I think that price works out to about $100,000 CDN NOT including tax!! Who's going to buy one there?

this is what i dont like
1) Yank tank
2) However, fit and finish is not on a par with the Audi A6 or new Lexus GS.

i did misread it however when it was talking about not being able to make a good car. sorry. yeah i cant pull it up at home, it did once and when i went back through it said something about registering. i am on the public access computer now and it worked. oh well i misread the article but i still dont think them brits would know what a good car was. i have seen some of their cars and they are horrible. of course im sure some think the same about me.

man i cant believe them brits dont like chrome! wtf? thats just wrong.

What difference does the fit and finish of an Audi A6 make when it's always in the shop?

I'll give them the GS, as it's butt ugly.

I suppose this is why there are so many different cars made...

I think chrome is making a bit of a comeback. Even American cars lacked it for a long time and the '50's were the chrome Glory Days!

WHAT?
They are the creators of some of the best cars in the world: Do rolls-royce, bentley, lotus, aston martin and jaguar ring a bell?

Doesn't count when they are in the shop all the time. :D Well, except the new Jags, dang I like those. ;) :hide:

What about MG, TVR?

Your personal preferences are not the point here.
I replied to your "brits wouldnt know a good car if it bit them in the ass" statement by providing a list of some of their famous brands to prove that they do.

And I did not say "owners", but creators. Different thing. Fiat owns ferrari, but that does not make them less than what they are.

as a ex brittish car mechanic i have to agree with fleet low low on this one ...the britts wouldnt know a good car if it bit them ont he arse ...these are the same folks that brought us the MGA a car that if boath doors were left open the car would fold up like a taco ....

or "Lucas elelctronics"

also note , none of the brittish cars are brittish anymore , cept maybe morgan

rolls royce automotive was cut loose to prevent draggin the areo engine division into the ground !!!

the original lotus started out life as a hacked up austin seven with a ford beam axel spit in half !!!!

while i love brittish cars with a passion , i cant stand a britt acting high and mighty discrediting a car like the STS while they elect a ford focus as car of the year ...sorry but between those ugly teeth and prince charles in a kilt i firmly belive the brittish have no taste ....

it surely must be something in the boody tea

BTW "Yank Tank" is the slang for a american car ....kinda like how we refer to anything japanese as a "rice burner"

Stoneage---Well the Focus is a damned good little car. I had a 2001 Sport Edition in bright yellow that was a perfect gas to drive. It was a good cruiser too, drove from Baton Rouge back to Chicago in a day and felt good too.

My daughter runs the wheels off the little red 2002 Focus I bought her, good car.

Supposedly the new European Focus is even better, I guess we'll see it here in a year or two. Or you can get a Mazda 3 which I understand is pretty much the same car.

dont get me wrong , there good little cars ...

and the new euro one that swpaned a volvo is a sharp little car ...

my grandparents have the wagon .....

but ....the other stuff that came out the year they elected that as the car of the year was more revolutionary ....

Actually, I think that's kinda cool. Yeah, a classic Yank Tank. I'm proud to drive a Yank Tank!

Works for me. ;)

Lotus rings a bell... a warning bell of overheating and imminent drivetrain failure. Same for Jag and shoddy build quality due in part to lazy manufacturing.

Thank goodness foreigners saved the crappy British marques, because I adore their spectacular style and unique character. There's nothing like the elegance of those crazy Anglos.

Dude! Jag overtook Cadillac for second place on quality! But at least we are still in the top 5.

Scary thought, but it goes to show that Ford is pumping Jag full of money while starving Lincoln division.
