I have a 96 ETC, the battery no charge comes on occasionally then will go away and show charging normal. I pulled a current code of IP1911 when the no charge is listed in the DIC. I checked all connections, replaced corroded battery terminals without change. What is code IP1911. I bought vehicle used. The alternator was replaced about 30k ago. could it be shot already? thanks for your help in advance. ps. when it is first started it shows 10 to 11 volts then drops and dic shows no battery charge
Some grease / oil may have found its way inside. Use some electric motor cleaner solvent and compressed air to clean it out. Wear safety glasses of course and make sure the engine is cool before doing it.

All I can find is,
B1911 - Generator L-Terminal Problem
Sounds like it could be the correct definition of the code, but I'm not sure if it is.
i pulled alternator apart and cleaned and re-installed to no avail. I think its probably the voltage regulator that is bad. anyone no if this is a servicable part or do I need to exchange whole unit.. I would like to find a voltage regulator that i could just replace to save some money unless the cost of a rebuilt is less than $100. any thoughts where i could purchase this internal regulator?. TIA

Im not sure about buying the regulator seperate. I had the exact thing happen on mine, battery light would come on intermittantly. I just replaced the whole alt. $130, but you can probably find it cheaper.
