I thought the front struts on the catera were electronic. Aren't these ~$200 ea.?

I just got the car and I want to change the oil. Someone said the filter was "internal" and had to be changed by the dealer. True? :suspect:

Any help will help
Thanks

No they are not electronic, just regular struts. The oil filter is not internal... they must have been throwing bs at you because they didnt want to change the cars oil.

Thank you very much JG
Can you please advise me regarding a make/model front strut for the car?

I haven't looked yet, but can someone tell me where on the engine I can expect to find the oil filter?
AND
What is the normal RPM at idle?--Mine is about 400 RPMs and the oil pressure goes low and the light comes on when hot. Is there any adjustment or is the speed adjusted by the computer?

The struts have been improved, just go to www.parts.com and pick a supplier.

The oil filter is on the left side of the engine under the exhaust manifold. You need to get under the car to see it.

RPM is adjusted electronicly but oil light coming on is a cronic problem with these cars. Just check the previous messages, there are tons of them! But the quickest fix would be changing the oil's weight with 10w40, what I did was adding an external oil cooler.

Tirerack.com sells performance struts for this vehicle. They oil filter can be located under the engine behind to oil pan on the drivers side of the car. Its pretty far back and if you are getting under it you should use jack stands or ramps.
