I saw this on the GM News board....Just curious what anyone here knows about Zeta over Sigma.....Does that change the handling drastically?

CTS/CTS-V- CTS-V will move to the 6.0L V8 by 2006 as production of the 5.7L LS6 ceases. The CTS is scheduled for a redesign in 2007. It is possible Sigma might be dumped at this point for a luxury version of the Zeta platform. It is rumored that the CTS-V will get the 6.4L LS7 powertrain in 2008.

The Zeta platform was recently axed. :crying:

GM is hurting and Americans won't know what hit them until General Ford Motors, a subsidiary of Toyota-Walmart, is telling them what they can and cannot drive as cars are merely transportation devices from point A to point B. :nono:

Learn to pronounce words like Camry and Scion. :(

I too feel we are losing all choices in vehicles lately. Toyota is selling how many cars now? Going after GM big time. And how many Toyota models are there to choose from? I can not even remember the last time even stepped in to a Toyota dealer..

I can't even remember the last time I wanted to step into a Toyota dealer. I like cars like the V and SRT 8 because they look different. I especially like the V because there is no confusion on what the car is by looks.

I've been fighting for this country for 19 years so I'm not going to buy an foriegn car, or a car where most of the money goes back overseas. The V has proven that Americans have the talent to match the best.

GM is making some good moves at the top. The CEO took direct responsibility over NA. He is a turn around guy. He is pressing the unions to help with Health care. My last 3 companies I have had to contrib. and pay a deductable.

Fortune mag just laid this fact. Every GM car produced has a 2200.00 dollar tag on it for benefits.

Over all, american manu's are producing cars that can compete with anyone from a quality standpoint. GM had 3 top 10 last go round. Buick I think was #2 overall.

I'm not a protectionist and believe in competition and capitalism. That is why we always turn it. GM will turn at some point. We all have to admit GM has made huge mistakes. I mean, come on....who buys the AZTEC....that was horrilbe....

OK, next question...Zeta or Sigma?

I also read that the ZETA platform is DEAD! :deadhorse Here in the world of structured finance...we are concerned that GM and Ford may be heading toward BK. :jawdrop:

Maybe because they are replacing too many rear ends on Vs and GTOs.

Ford doesn't surpise me since they are almost as boring as Toyota.

Besides Caddy and the Vette, what GM product would draw you to a showroom?

My opnion, subject to attack and dispute:

Suburban/Tahoe (got one already)
Chevy Trailblazer SS (maybe a replacement for above)
All GMC equiv's of above
Chevy SS (well not me personally but it is a draw)
Chevy's version of the 4 door Holden Monaro (WHERE THE F$&K IS IT!)
Chevelle (oops. wrong century.)
GTO (if it seated 5)

The keys to GM's success are not in V's or even GTO's or Vette's, which are likely loss leader's these days. These cars are marketing tools to draw attention to the brand. They need good fleet cars and SUV's for the masses. That's where the money is. The limited edition V's have already been a huge success in helping CTS sales to soar (well, at least I think so), though frankly the CTS is selling well because it was well recieved prior to the V, but the V series marketing has sure helped.

Look how Dodge used the Viper; They are likely losing money on the Viper program, but MAN what a marketing tool. They've used the Viper to sell gazillions of minivans, pickup trucks, and fleet cars that are percieved by many as coming from the same bloodline.....

Trucks, Solstice, Saturn Sky

I'm considering a lease on a G6 ($199/month), it's FWD and I think it looks good.

I know I should keep my mouth shut and stay out of this, but what fun would that be. As much as we don’t like to admit it, it was all the quality cars coming from across the ocean that made the US car makers have to stop making sh*t and improve quality. The same thing happened to Harley. Once they were faced with quality from Japan (boring and subsidized by their government, but well made) they had to improve in order to survive. Today the cars have improved but I think the dealer network is still lost in the sixties. I buy the best vehicle for my needs and don’t care who makes it. If the American car companies what my business all they have to do is earn it.

You'd have to watch the entire Serbian Air Force crash-land in a gasoline refinery to match the thrills I've had with this car. It begs the question though --Could this be the beginning of the end of the last great American supercar era? As the Chinese economy developes, (and there are a lot more Chinese than the rest of us) due in large part to our addiction to cheap, foreign-made goods, guess who's gonna start buying more and more oil? And as the (finite) supply tries to match demand, how much longer will we have cheap gasoline? 5 years? Probably. 10 years? Maybe. 25 years? Doubtfully. I feel for the next generation of drivers as milage becomes more imperative than perfomance, unless technology closes the gap. Just my $.02, and I hope I'm wrong. But if not, that's why I bought this car now. Once gas hits $5 bucks a gallon, watch how fast buses and other often-derided mass transit fills up in this country. If you've ever been to Europe, you'll know what the future holds for us. Lots of teeny, tiny cars and beaucoup mopeds. Mass transit is just what the name implies. You don't "cruise" over there. You go from point A to B. It's mostly the wealthy who enjoy the pleasures of high perfomance driving, which we so often take for granted.
Is this a great country or what!! Enjoy it while you can!
