Ok, I can't even get past the first step here.
I tried to reprogram the car as per instructions, no dice.
Took it back to dealer and they did the "latest firmware" update.
( I am trying to get the release date).
Tried to reprogram, no dice.
error msg is: year not supported/no vin # blah blah..
RATS!
Question # 2 is this a show stopper?
Can I go ahead and do everything else and this last or am I screwed until this is resolved?

Possible causes I can think of:

A. The powertrain control modules on many Vs do not have a VIN stored. Your dealer can fix this if that is the problem.

B. You may have gotten a handheld programmer for a different model year V or with the wrong VIN. The operating system for 2005 is different than 2004 and IIRC, there are two different operating systems for 2004 models.

Is it a show stopper? You'll definitely need this resolved before you drive it with the supercharger.

Send me your PCM, I'll fix it and put in a custom Maggie tune for a modest fee. :cowboy:

You need the latest flash with VIN number. Stop now, because if you do everything else (e.g. the mechanical install) without being able to flash your PCM with the Maggie tune, your car will be a very large paperweight.

Go back to your dealer (or a different dealer) and get the LATEST software that includes VIN number.

What year V do you have? Chances are good that tomorrow AM I can get the release number/date of the firmware flash you need, then you can hand that info the your dealer.

Stop now else you'll have to tow it in to get it reflashed. Take to Martin Cadillac off of the 10 and Olympic almost to Santa Monica. Tell them you need the VIN flashed to your PCM. I had mine there two weeks ago. In and out.

Also I suggest pulling the front clip off as suggested, it's easy and it's out of your way.

Thanks for the info guys!

Ok, so I won't do anything until this is resolved.
I guess I can do the wipers and other stuff but no maggie install.
RATS

It is an 05 (platinum, I needed the maggie to keep up with the black ones).

rofl..

Thats weird on the flash problem.. Kachina had handheld, and another laptop hooked up and did it things fast.. also, they had this chip looking thing, different than i have seen, all metal with clips, they hooked that up by itself, then installed rehooked then uploaded to it as well.... weird..

I have my fingers crossed that this is going to be the only big hic-cup.

I can see about going to Santa Monica in the morning.

I assumed Penske did the right upgrade.

That's what I get for assuming.

Although to be fair, I didn't tell them to flash the vin to the PCM.
They just told me it was upgraded to their highest rev.
Still waiting on ifo as to what rev they do have, and what rev I need.

RATS.

StealthV let the cat out.

If you can't get a dealer to properly flash the car, then send the PCM to StealthV. You will love it.

Ok, went back to Penske this morning.
Technician indicates he knows about the VIN flash to the PCM but he needs to contact Cadillac to get something (VCM?).
At least he knows what is needed.
In the meantime, I wait, they are gonna call me and back I go.
Lucky for me it is only a couple of miles.
My BIG question is I assumed that the flash they did yesterday took care of that. Why didn't it?
Are there different levels of firmware upgrade that require an owner to go through a bunch of reiterations to get current?

Hooray!
On to step two!
The flash that the dealer did yesterday failed.
The tech indicated he might have used the wrong program (CTS) and that is why it failed.
Anyway, It worked this time and now on to step two.
I hope I can finish by monday (friday now).

A big thanks to all with their help & info.

Some states just put you in jail for over 103 mph or so :histeric:

Is Mag's "latest firmware update" requirement just to make sure the VIN is programmed? Or is there new firmware??

My guess is that the programmer only works with one vin at a time. Once you upload you can only put the original profile back to that specific vin. Keeps you from programming all your vehicles or all your friends. Since there is no vin it doesn't know what to do or won't let you proceed.

The programmer that my son bought for his truck will only work on his truck unless he unloads it back to factory.

Ok guys.

It is Sunday night and I have just finished the car, cleaning, eating and "test driving".
First a big thanks to "Lew".
You know who you are and what you did.
Enough to say it wouldn't have happened without your help!.

The install went ok except:
1. The holes on the intercooler radiator were at least 1/4 inch off.
2. Missing one big clamp for the air duct.
3. Missing one of the white wires, two required but only one in the bag.

When I got it done I tried to start it and it coughed and rumbled and sputtered then nothing.
RATS!
I just killed my car.:crying:
I went straight to the fuel pump booster module and the fuse was blown.
I guess it didn't like pressurizing the line.
Replaced the fuse and BINGO!
Started right up.

IT"S ALIVE, ALIVE, ALIVE!

:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Drives totally different.
I drag out the gears way longer, and it doesn't drop revs as fast.
Much less lurching from first to second.
Third gear is great as well as fourth.
Fith and sixth?
Those black V's better look out!

Now for the funny story (ya gotta laugh or you start crying!)
The instructions call for cutting off part of the wiper arm lever.
OK, I stick it up against my trusty grinder.
Everything is going bitchin until the connecting arm falls away with the bearing smoking.
UH OH!
So much for the connecting arm.
Should have known the bearing was PLASTIC!

This was step 2 right after going back and forth to the dealer THREE times for the programming issue.

I thought I was doomed.:banghead:

Glad you got all of that sorted out. The Programming is the first thing in the manual for that exact reason....Some of the V's did not get VIN's stored from the factory. Sorry I missed this last week, you can always call here and ask for me or the tech dept if you have any questions.
