Im lookin at buyin a Catera. For the $6000 you get em for they dont seem that bad. I've heard they can be unreliable, but i'm gonna try to find a 98 or 99.
i got a couple questions if anyone could help
can you fit 6.5's in the door? i can get a very good set of components for $150 in 6.5, but the 5.25 versions are a full $250. i'd rather save 100 bucks and gain the extra cone area. could the extra space be dremeled out?
where is the stock tweeter location?
lastly, i've seen trunk pics. why is there a circle object on the left side of the trunk and why is the right side of the trunk seeled off? It looks like a cluttered version of a Buick try, i'd like to know what is the extra crap back there.

If you plan on doing speaker upgrades off the bat, make sure you find a Catera without the bose system; that'll save you a bunch of time from the beginning. Tweeters are on the door, on the 97-99 its in corner of the A pillar ( i think thats what area its in). The speakers are 6.5 http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37174
In the trunk on the driver side theres the spare tire - on the passengerside theres two access panels - one for the jack and another for the CD changer to go in. The spare tire is there because the gas tank is right underneath, so theres no room for the spare tire "tub".

hopefully i'll be able to pick up a non bose system then:) sounds all good for the stereo then. I've got an Ascendant Avalanche 15 if anyone's heard about em', to toss in the trunk.
thanks for the help:D

The Catera is great for audio setup... I have Orion components all through the car, 2 Orion H2s in the trunk with a double application of dynamat through the whole car... Over 6000+ watts of real power
Sounds like a million dollars

Why can't you change the speakers if you have the Bose system? I have the Bose system and It sounds OK, but I would like more mid range and bass. Would I have to change the whole system?
