Come on GM,

Dealers have a lot of the STS's on the lot & your biz is hurting (in general sense). When are the incentives going to get real!!!!

Hopefully they will never come and GM can continue to push the Cadillac's off of there lots without high Incentives.

This is one reason that the business is suffering. The problem with offering huge incentives when sales are down (Which cadillac has done) is that people will now always look for incentives and expect them. How long can a company stay in business when they are giving all of these incentives away and not making any money. I also hope they they do not offer huge incentives anymore because it hurts the company and also kills our resale value.

There are good lease deals on the STS right now. 4 years, 12K a year, $2696 down and $399 a month.

That is for a base STS V6. If you need even a few options, such as the luxury package and a sunroof, the monthly payment skyrockets.

I hope they don't put any more incentives on the STS. The more incentive GM put on a car, the lower the resale values will be. If GM wants Cadillac to compete with BMW and Mercedes, they better be able to move the STS without incentives. :)

If their MSRP's weren't so damned inflated to begin with, they wouldnt need to offer ridiculous incentives to get the things off the lot. Theres a reason Devilles typically have 8-10k off sticker sitting on red tags in the window before you even ask, and its not because Cadillac is feeling charitable.

That goes for pretty much all the domestics right now, particularly Lincoln and Cadillac.

I would think you could get 5k+ off a loaded STS without much effort. Any feedback on that number?

I would say that would be a fair estimation. Espcecially since there are already 60 plus K 05's slightly used on lots now for less than 52k, even the models that were SO hard to come by just a few months ago and were on serious backorder.

Most of the Caddy stores in my area, will not offer anything over $3000 off of the sticker. $1000 of that is GM money, $1200 is Dealer hold back, and $405 is advertising money... Typically on a $40,000 Caddy, you should not see a lower price than $37000. Anything below that and the dealer would be taking the hit to sell the car.

Bob in nY,

You sure its 1500 off? All i was aware of was 1000 bonus cash plus some coupons for dealers w/ cars on the lot for more than 90 days or something like that...

The division has actually give the dealership coupons that they can apply to vehicles that have been on there lot for over 180 days. Up to $1000.

If you go to cadillac.com and check out the financing option on an STS it will show a $1500 cash back. The deal on a "smart buy" which is code name for lease, is pretty damn good. Check out their finance calculator and the deals look pretty tempting. I haven't tested the numbers at the dealership yet, but my guess is discounts are available. I just haven't made the decision to get rid of the BMW and buy American. My 540i has 54k miles and still drives great.

Amen ! GM has to get out of the rebate game, it is killing them.

The new Cadillac's are world class and do not need incentives to bring us in. The need to own one will bring the customers into the dealerships and give GM the much needed profits to continue to make Cadillac " The Standard of The world " again....

Alot of times the Cadillac dealers can also toss in little 500.00 coupons as they see fit to sweeten the pot as well.

BOB in NY...

Gm offers the smartbuy because in some states. The wonderful state of Texas, charges additional taxes on Lease vehicles if they are not company cars. So they offer the smartbuy. The smart buy is a lease with a balloon payment at the end.

I understand that. In NY many companies stopped leasing due to laws that make the manufacturer liable not the person leasing the car. The smart buy gives you the option of the baloon or turning the car back to GM but the title is in your name during the time you drive it.

Sticker price on mine was I believe $44,xxx (low) we got it for just over $40k. So yes, it is possible to get some of the price knocked off, however, it did have a few miles on it, like 450. Just enough to still be considered new. So we got a nice break with that.

It was the one they were using for test drives and for shows (not quite demo from what I understand.)

The incentives are giving GM a big hit though. However, incentives are usually only temporary. Remember when the Hummer H2 came out? You were able to get one, well equipped, out the door, with zero haggling for like $48k. Now with extensive haggling a H2 base out the door, you are lucky if you get it for less than $52k.

They are slowly getting rid of the incentives. I think it was just to attract new customers. Especially when Cadillac realized that the average age of their customers was like 75 years old and they are slowly dying off (no offense, hell, I drive one). Now that they have attracted alot of new customers (face it, escalades are EVERYWHERE nowadays and back then seeing more than one hummer every 4 months on the street was a long shot. Now it's hard to go one day without seeing one) the CTS is also a pretty common car nowadays. I havn't seen too many STS' on the road yet. Strangely enough, all but one of the ones ive seen on the road were black (like mine)

I easily negotiated 4K off msrp on my 05 STS, including cash back and dealer coupons. I was told GMAC is not leasing in some states due to liability and having lost some law suits. Seems if you kill somebody, they want to sue the deep pockets and since GMAC owns the car they have taken some hits. I heard this started years ago when the NY Yankees manager Billy Martin was killed in a GMAC leased vehicle and his estate sued and won. Smart Buy, I was told is a retail lease, the car is registered in your name, but payments are fully loaded with sales tax on the full amount of the car and is more expensive than a traditional lease. I heard.
