: carb rebuild

completed a carb rebuild on my quadrajet yesterday. $26. there was enough dirt in the carb to fill a small bucket. well, probably not, but it was pretty bad. i used 3 cans of carb cleaner and im pretty sure/hope that i got everything back in its right spot. the pictures in the service manual make it look much worse than it actually is. it took me a few hours, but was much simpler than you would guess from the book.

so, is there anything else i should do before i put it back on the car. should i clean off the intake manifold and check the egr passages again.

also, what rpm do you set the timing at because that is the next thing that i will be doing

alright, i cleaned stuff up and put the carb back on. all i can say is WOW. much much much better. so much more response, no bogging. i couldnt get the tires to hook up.

have yet to check the timing, found out its supposed to be 20 degrees BTDC @1100rpm.

how can i check to see what the engine speed is, or can i just do it at idle?
