Buick quit making RWD sedans like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4546562341&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT
after '85 while Cadillac kept making theirs to '92. So excluding the later FWB and Roadmaster, was the Cadi so much more popular than the Buick that they could keep selling it that much longer? Oh, and yes, this IS also a shameless plug to show my car.

I have to say that is one sharp Buick. Are you the seller on that auction? My grandpa had a nice red Regal Limited that I've been taking care of for my grandmother. It needs a paint job badly but it's in good shape and only has like 85,000 mi.

In one word YES:) IMO. BTW Nice Ride:thumbsup: . I have a buddy of mine that has one the same year but with a burgundy top. I guess Buick/Olds figured the Regal/Cutlass RWD cars were enough for those years after 85.

Those Buicks aren't the same as Cadillacs. They're smaller. They probably didn't stop making Broughams because people still wanted them :) And look how many limos and hearses there are.

It was my understanding that all of GMs big RWD sedans were slated for extinction after 1984 (Olds 98, Buick Electra) and 1985 (Olds 88, Buick LeSabre, Pontiac Parisienne) but that by 1986 gas prices had begun to fall, and the Cadillac RWD was kept because demand went back up, also because the 4.1 was dropped for the 307. One website on Cadillac history says that sales of the Brougham actually increased 30% in 1986-1987.

That is exactly why my mom bought her 85 FW. She had a lemon of a 84 98 Regency, and got fed up and got the Cad. Got a great trade in on the 98, as being it was discontinued, it became very desired. She missed the power of the 307 compared to the lame 4.1, but the brakes were much better.

Thank god they didn't cut 'em! Weren't gas prices down to just above $10 a barrel? Boy I'd sure miss driving my 85 Pari if she'd never been built.
