I need help. Took delivery Tues. on a '05 STS V8 AWD. I am learning all the gadgets (which may take the rest of the year), however, I can't seem to operate the cruise control without the head-up display on. I have the adaptive cruise option. Can anyone help. Go easy on me, I just joined.

The adaptive cruise does work in conjunction with the Heads up display. I don't understand why you wouldn't want the heads up display on anyway but if for some reason you find is annoying why don't you just turn the brightness on it down so that you cannot see it.

I really think these two options should be packaged separately. While I can certainly see the appeal of having both, I can understand some might find the HUD a little distracting or somewhat unnerving. I like them both, but I dont think its unusual for someone not to.

So,

Being a C5 (corvette) owner, I really liked having HUD. Are you guys saying that the only way to have HUD on is to have the cruise switch "on"????

The other way around. The only way to have ACC operate is to have the HUD on.

HUD can be on without cruise.

disregard. Information I provided was in error.

I was going by page 3-81 that says the Radar Cruise will not activate when the HUD is off, and flashes a message on the DIC. I didn't actually try this, so the manual might be wrong :yup:.

I stand corrected and removed the erroneous information. Guess I better make a second pass at the manual.
