I have gone out to start my car twice now, and have had to jumpstart it because the battery did not have enough juice to do the job. I checked to make sure that I had not left anything on and had not. Took it to the dealership, where it is right now (overnite) so as they can try to figure it out. Someone I know who has an Acura with the keyless ignition as was having the same problem, another friend with a new Vette (keyless as well) had the same problem. The dealership told them that they both had not been turning the car completely off, that they were leaving it in the on position unknowingly. Has anyone else had this issue? If so what was the solution?

Thanx for the help

I caught myself tuning on ACC when I wanted to turn it off. Ran into a store and came out to see lights still on. I am careful now to turn it off pressing the lower left on the button. I have also discovered no matter where you press on the button, if you hit it twice ACC turns on. I would expect the retained power feature would timeout after 10 minutes so I doubt this is draining your battery.

On my 2003 STS after 3 days in the garage the battery went dead. Roadside replaced my battery but it happen again. I took it to the dealer and they had to replace a control module under the dash that did time out and shut off. That did the trick. I also have a friend who had a 2002 Eldo with the same problem and they replaced his module. Maybe same problem? :hmm:

The start button is a traditional rocker switch, meaning it only recognizes UP or DOWN. The two icons on the bottom of the switch are only there to illustrate that the lower portion can perform two functions. OFF if pressed while running and ACC if pressed while off.

One of two things is happening: Either you're accidentally pressing it twice and putting the car in ON mode (full accessory only happens when you hold the lower portion for 5 seconds with the car off). What happens then is the equivalent to turning the ignition to the first "click" in a car with a traditional key.

You're leaving a key fob in the vehicle while it's parked in the garage. If you do this, the anti-theft system is constantly scanning the fob, keeping the alarm deactivated. Over time, this drains the battery. This is why your horn honks 3 times if you leave the fob in the car.

On your 03 Seville and your friend's Eldorado, a battery drain can be caused by leaving a key in the ignition even partially. That causes the PASS-KEY to constantly scan the key, draining the battery.

Eldos are notorious for battery problems anyway. When we sold them new, just about every one on the lot would be dead every few weeks.

I picked it up from the dealer this morning, and have had no problems as yet. I will observe it tomorrow and see

I had dead battery.
Delco has recalled many. Mine was one of them. Bad cell is known issue. Your dealer will find based on VIN series.
Good luck,
