I've gotta replace it. Any estimates on parts and how many hours of labor it'd be? Would a reasonably skilled home mechanic be able to do it themselves?

Make sure it comes with a pulley cause its a bitch to get the old one off. Easy , messy job though. Wear rubber gloves. Try to use a line wrench on the pressure fitting. JS:lildevil: spinj 04-25-05, 11:06 PM Its easy cheap and messy. 216caddypimp 04-28-05, 12:47 AM This is a trip, my pump went out on me three days ago, right before I was getting rims put on my 85 FW, since I don't know shit about cars, I took it to my local mechanic, who's alot cheaper then the dealers and other businesses and the part only cost 101.00 dollars, but the labor is what bankrupt me ($150.00) for the same reason everyone on here said, because the pulley is such a bitch to get off. Damn I wish I new how to fix cars, I would of saved a grip of money replacing 20 year old (115,000 miles) parts like new water pump, gas line, power steering pump, radiator, and a few things still need replacing. :banghead: AdmiralViscen 04-28-05, 09:10 PM Is power steering pump failure a common problem with these cars? cadillacmike68 04-29-05, 05:16 PM Is power steering pump failure a common problem with these cars? No. Unless you have a leaky line and it runs dry! :D | |
