Hi everybody, new to here. last week I put a holley annihilator high performance hei module and summit racing 50kv hei coil into my 93 sixty special. Both parts are not list for the caddy. However I was comparing the 7 pin GM module with this holley unit, and they appear to be identical. I also measured the primary and secondary resistances of the summit coil, and it also seens to be indentical to the GM coil. according to holley, the module has higher primary current and longer dwell than the stock. now everything appear to be normal to the car, she cranks and drives ok. but when i scan the ecm code ,there is this e53 ignition interrupt code show up. is this just normal to the caddy computer, she will sent out this code whenever she senses some after market high performance stuff been put into her ignition system? or I am really having some ignition interruption between the module and ecm? anyone have idea on this one?

if the car runs good then clear the code in the computer and see if it comes back again if it doesn't then don't worry about it.

Is the service engine soon light on or off...???
The code may be displaying as history...it might have set during the parts changing or something like that and just be a history code. Clear it by entering diagnostics and, after the codes display and you see the .7.0, simultaneously press and hold for a moment the OFF and HI buttons. See if the code comes back.
That is the problem with a lot of aftermarket parts...they are just not compatible wtih the OEM systems. The 53 means that the ECM is not getting RPM information so it will run in a backup mode if the 53 is setting currently. The OEM ignition is plenty capable of running the engine and the plugs are firing at the same voltage with the production system and the Holley system so it really isn't doing anything for you. Unless the engine is heavily mod'ed and/or you are really squirting it I would use the OEM parts to avoid any incompatiblity issues and diagnostic codes setting.

yes, first I thought it may be during installation, so I went on clearing the code. but after a while it will come back as e53, but not ee53. So I guess it's not current. I bought the module as a backup and for testing. oh well you are right, the conclution is that it's not 100% compatible. lucky, it's a clearance item from summit.

thanks for the help. I will change it back to oem. putting it aside for backup only
